Jaden Smith Will Be The Next Karate Kid

Will Smith’s ten-year-old son is poised to become the next “Karate Kid.”  “Variety” reports that Jaden Smith has been tapped to star in a remake of the 1984 movie that starred Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita.  Jaden, who co-starred with his dad in the movie “The Pursuit Of Happyness,” should have little trouble learning karate moves for the film as he reportedly has some experience in the field of martial arts.  Set to begin shooting next year, the film will be produced by Jerry Weintraub who launched the original “Karate Kid” franchise, and Will Smith’s own Overbrook Entertainment company.

Jaden Smith, meantime, will be seen next in the film “The Day The Earth Stood Still” co-starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly.  The movie is due out on December 12th.
