JOHN Travolta desperately tried to save the life of son Jett by performing CPR until medics arrived – but was too late.
The Hollywood star had a carer monitoring the 16-year-old around the clock and an alarm on the bathroom door, but Jett suffered a seizure and banged his head on a basin and the bath in the fall.
He was found by nanny Jeff Kathrein, whose screams brought Travolta running.
“Mr Travolta did everything he could but it appears it was too late,” a detective with the Grand Bahama Police Force told The Mail on Sunday.
“The nanny tried, Mr Travolta tried, but none of them was getting any response.”
Travolta’s close friend, lawyer Michael McDermott, said the fatal injury happened when Jett suffered an apparent seizure “very shortly” before he was discovered.
“The pain (Travolta) is going through is unimaginable,” Mr McDermott said.
“John took over the CPR for a substantial time and was performing CPR until the emergency medical team came and took over.”
Travolta, 54, and wife Kelly Preston, 46, are believed to have been in the ambulance when Jett was rushed to hospital.
They were seen holding hands after he was pronounced dead about two hours later.
