Rihanna’s Lawyer Says She Will Testify Against Chris Brown
After much speculation, it appears that Rihanna will help prosecutors in the case against her boyfriend Chris Brown. In an interview with MTV News, the pop star’s attorney Donald Etra said, quote, “At this point, she is willing to do anything that the law requires her to do. If subpoenaed, she will testify.” Experts have told “People” that prosecutors will almost assuredly subpoena Rihanna as a witness, but she cannot be threatened with jail time if she refuses to cooperate. Rihanna’s testimony will be crucial to the prosecution’s case, as they can only use her statements to police if she agrees to take the stand.
Chris Brown is alleged to have assaulted Rihanna on February 8th. He was scheduled to be arraigned last Thursday, but the hearing was postponed until April 6th.
