My girl over at Straightfromthea.com check out her site, found an interview where  he tells what he has been up too and why he took such a long leave of absence. I really hope he don’t take his music to stage left like most aritist, I like that laid back chill music… Yall feel me!!! Here is what they said:

Columbia Records held a celebration last night to announce Maxwell’s long-awaited new album “BLACK Summers’night.” The highly anticipated trilogy will consist of three separate discs to be released over the course of three years starting this year. The first disc is scheduled to drop July 7th. After a 7 year hiatus, Maxwell is now 35 years old, he’s seasoned and he’s cut his signature locks, but his silky sexy voice remains the same. Lil Wayne Sues his producer

Thursday April 30th 2009

Lil Wayne has filed a lawsuit against the producer of his track “I Feel Like Dying” for allegedly sampling another singer’s work without permission.

The move stems from a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against the rapper last year by folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s, who claimed the track used portions of her song “Once” without permission.

Weezy’s lawsuit, filed last week by his lawyers, says Rebel Rock Productions Inc., of Coconut Creek, Fla., produced “I Feel Like Dying” and was responsible for obtaining any necessary licensing agreements, reports the Associated Press.

Last month, a federal magistrate ordered Lil Wayne to turn over financial records for his Grammy-winning album, “Tha Carter III,” to Urband & Lazar Music Publishing, which published “Once.”

“I Feel Like Dying” isn’t a track on “Tha Carter III,” but a lawyer for Urband & Lazar argues that Lil Wayne promoted the album by singing that song in concert and allowing fans to download it for free on his Web site.

Rihanna and her borrowed jewels: finally returned!

A Los Angeles judge ruled Tuesday that Rihanna can reclaim her $1.4 million in borrowed jewelry that was taken by police as evidence the night she was allegedly beaten by Chris Brown.

Her lawyer Donald Etra said after the hearing that the ruling will allow Rihanna to return the items, described as a pair of earrings and three rings, to the companies that lent them to her for a pre-Grammy party on Feb. 8.

The 21-year-old singer’s attorney had requested a judge’s order for the items’ return, but an agreement was reached Wednesday morning. Prosecutors said they would have the jewelry photographed for evidence if it is needed at a trial.

Brown wasn’t in court in Los Angeles Wednesday, but could face a preliminary hearing where a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. He is currently charged with felony assault and making criminal threats.

Quincy’s Dad, Not Talking To Him?

Wednesday April 29th 2009

My Girl at BCK is on it for all the news dealing with black celebrity kids. I was on her site www.Blackcelebkids.com and came across this story about Quincy, Puffs step son and his letter to his real father.

17-year-old Quincy Brown says that he hasn’t heard from his dad since he published that letter :Letter To My Father. Read below as Quincy explains why he wrote that letter to his biological dad, singer Al B Sure:

I published a “Letter To My Father” recently and the tremendous response deserves my sincere thanks. I’m overwhelmed by how many people took the time to read my letter and listen to my record. I received thousands of calls, texts, comments and e-mails. Thank you for your compassion, support, and understanding.

To those that share my experience, I thank you for your courage. Many of you shared with me your life-experiences without your fathers. I say to you “This is only a season,” one aspect of life. Take the lessons and let them make you stronger and wiser. Commit to never make the same mistake.

I realized I was taking a great personal risk to share my feelings. I thought that revealing this part of my life was necessary. It was an important part of a process to help me understand who I am. I released years of disappointment and pain. My healing has begun.

I haven’t heard from my Dad since I published my letter. I know that eventually our paths will cross in this journey called LIFE. As it has often been said, “Time heals all wounds.” Now it’s time to move on with my journey. A journey where my faith tells me that my father and I will be stronger. Dad, I love you.

Again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that has shared in this life changing experience with me.

Thank You Again…

-Quincy “*iQ” Brown

Beyonce On Destiny’s Child: “We Still Are Friends”

Beyonce is doing just fine on her own. The singer has a hit movie at the box office with “Obsessed,” and recently topped the charts with her latest solo album “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” But Beyonce still faces questions about the possibility of a reunion with her former group Destiny’s Child. While she won’t give a yes or no answer to that question, Beyonce notes the girls still share a tight bond.

Destiny’s Child called it quits back in 2005 after releasing four studio albums, and notching four number-one songs on the Hot 100. The group was dubbed the World’s Best-Selling Female Group of All Time at the 2005 World Music Awards. Along with Beyonce, Destiny’s Child featured singers Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
