MC Hammer Sued Over Book Project

April 6th 2009

A publishing company wants to get their hands on some money they gave MC Hammer several years ago. According to the “New York Daily News,” Simon & Schuster has filed a lawsuit against the rapper. The publishers claim they signed a deal with Hammer back in 2002 to have the rapper pen a book called “Enemies of the Father: A Message from the Heart On Being a Family Man.” However, a spokesman for Simon & Schuster says, quote, “We never got the manuscript.” The company is looking to get back the 61-thousand-dollar advance that was paid to Hammer. The rapper says he’s not worried, though, adding, quote, “The lawyers will settle it and it’s on to the next thing.”
MC Hammer, who filed for bankruptcy back in the 1990s after losing his multi-million-dollar fortune, is soon expected to appear on TV. “The Hollywood Reporter” said A&E had given the rapper his own reality show called “Hammertime.” Shooting was expected to begin last month.
