Man Injured After Using Nail Clippers to Circumcise Himself

June 30th 2009

Ok this has to be to be one of the dumbest stories I have heard all year. A British man had to be rushed to a hospital emergency room after attempting to circumcise himself with nail clippers, the Telegraph reported Tuesday.

The unnamed young man was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, where he had the wound cleaned and disinfected.

He was kept in the hospital for observation.

“This is something we would advise men never to attempt,” a medic told the Telegraph. “The results can be quite horrific and long-lasting and have quite an affect on a man’s sexual performance. Using a pair of nail clippers must have caused excruciating pain, even if he had had a few drinks beforehand.”

Vibe Is Closing Their Doors

June 30th 2009

vibe-final

Ok So I have to tell yall that there will be a major change of leadership in urban print media. Today I found out that Vibe  will be closing their doors today all most with out notice. I was on Necolebitchie.com this is what she said:

Vibe, one of the nation’s leading popular music magazines, is closing immediately, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Word leaked to music and media news Web sites early this afternoon, and the spokeswoman, Tracy Nguyen, said the Vibe staff would be formally notified in a meeting at 2 p.m. She said she did not know how many people would be laid off as a result of the closure.

Vibe’s closure leaves just one large-circulation magazine, The Source, focusing on hip-hop and R&B. The Source has had its own troubles, going through a bankruptcy and emerging under new ownership last year. A rock-focused magazine, Blender, folded last year. Read More

Vibe Magazine’s final cover features a topless Christina Milian with her fiance The Dream, reminiscent of Janet Jackson’s 1993 Rolling Stone Cover. Here’s a statement from Vibe’s EIC Danyel Smith via Miss Info:

On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of VIBE Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the VIBE brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you.

MJ Fans Are Losing Their Damn Minds!!!

June 30th 2009

Ok I have to tell yall that I love me some MJ as much as the next man and I hope to see him on the other side … but I have to say, there is no way in hell I’m going to kill myself to be with him. After reading this story on www.Contactmusic.com I was left with one question, “What the hell are yall thinking?” As many as 12 people have taken their lives after hearing about his passing.  This is what www.Contactmusic.com said:

Fans of MICHAEL JACKSON have been hit hard by the star’s death – 12 devotees have allegedly killed themselves following the tragic news. The King Of Pop passed away on Thursday (25Jun09) from a cardiac arrest and millions of his fans worldwide went into mourning. But several of them found it too hard to cope and subsequently ended their own lives, according to the founder of an online Jackson fanclub.
Gary Taylor, president and owner of MJJcommunity.com, says, “I know there has been an increase (in deaths), I now believe the figure is 12. It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live. ”They (fans) can’t accept it, they feel in some sort of different reality. I’m stunned that he’s dead. One minute he is coming here for concerts and the next he is gone. I think the funeral will be where the reality kicks in that he is gone and won’t be coming back, there will be a huge depression in the fan community when that happens.” And Jackson’s political activist pal Reverend Jesse Jackson has even recorded a message to his fans, urging them not to “self-destruct” in the wake of the singer’s demise. Jesse Jackson says, “This is a time when hearts are heavy. There is great pain but great cause to celebrate Michael’s life. It made Michael happy saying ‘We Are The World’. Don’t self-destruct. We fall down sometimes, we get back up. That’s the right thing to do. In Michael’s name let’s live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools.” Thousands of Jackson fans are planning a vigil on 13 July (09) at the O2 Arena in London where the star was due to kick off his 50-date comeback tour.

Oldest Historically-Black College In Texas Losing Accreditation
3334283967_288225f221

I have to say that I have never heard of this school but there are alot of schools that I haven’t heard of, but they still need help. The oldest historically-black college in Texas may be on the verge of closing because it’s losing the accreditation it needs to award bona fide degrees. Paul Quinn College, in South Oak Cliff, is losing its accreditation because of a range of academic and financial shortfalls. Accreditation is required not only for colleges to award diplomas but also to offer federal financial aid. Also, most other colleges will not accept transfer credits from non-accredited schools. Paul Quinn administrators plan an immediate appeal but if that fails, the school’s 440 students will be forced to go elsewhere. Founded in 1872, Paul Quinn is the oldest of eight historically-black colleges in Texas. After more than a century in Austin and then Waco, the college moved to its current South Oak Cliff campus in 1990.

Janet Jackson spoke out for the first time since the death of her brother, music icon Michael Jackson, over the weekend at the BET Awards. In a surprise appearance at Sunday night’s BET Awards, Jackson took to the stage to address the audience, saying she was elected to speak for the family. She is said to be still in disbelief. She was in the ATL on the way to the set of her new movie “Why Did I Get Married 2″, the sequel to the hit play and movie produced by Tyler Perry, when she got the call from a family member that MJ was very sick and she needed to come home.  These are said to be some really tough times for her since she decided to take her life in a different direction, but I will tell yall about that a little later. The crazy thing was just before hearing that MJ had passed I was had been asked to come on the set to take some pic’s of her and some other cast members at the Georgia Dome.

The 2009 BET Awards recalled the life and musical legacy of late pop superstar Michael Jackson at a star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night. Artists such as New Edition and Ne-Yo also performed Jackson’s hits as both a member of the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. Clips of Jackson’s interviews and performances were shown throughout the ceremony.

President Obama is reaching out to the members of Michael Jackson’s family. Senior White House Adviser David Axelrod told NBC’s “Meet The Press” that the president has written a letter to the family instead of issuing a public statement, saying, quote, “he felt that was the appropriate way to go.” Axelrod added that the president believes Michael Jackson “was an important and magnificent performer,” adding, quote, “obviously he led a sad life in many ways as well, but his impact is undeniable.” On Friday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the president sent his condolences to Jackson’s family and fans, adding that Obama saw the singer as a spectacular performer and music icon.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is deferring identification of the cause of pop star Michael Jackson’s death after an autopsy on his body Friday. Operations Chief Investigator Craig Harvey with the Coroner’s Office says that means additional tests have been ordered and it will likely be six to eight weeks before those will be completed.

He said there were some prescription drugs that were being taken by the singer, but he could not comment on the specific medications. Jackson was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon after being rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old. A private second autopsy was performed at the request of Jackson’s family. The “Los Angeles Times” reports the second autopsy was finished Saturday. Results from the private autopsy are expected to be available sooner than the coroner’s toxicology report.

Ludacris To Launch New Cognac Line This Fall

June 26th 2009

Ludacris is the latest rapper getting into the alcohol game. According to the Agence France-Presse, the MC announced he’s teaming up with Norwegian Cognac maker Birkedal Hartmann to create his own line called Conjure. But Luda told the crowd at France’s Vinexpo that he plans to do more than put his name on the product. He added, quote, “Whenever I involve myself in a business, I submerge myself in it.” That meant the rapper spent some time earlier this year with Hartmann’s master blender sampling 40 different brandies to find the best one for the line. Luda said the whole experience gave him, quote, “a new appreciation for Cognac.” The Conjure line is due to hit America in September, at a price point of 35-dollars per bottle. Previous hip-hop stars to get involved with alcoholic products include Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Sean “Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes.
