2016 Salute Her Awards presented by McDonald’s partners with NCNW Atlanta to honor five trailblazing female entrepreneurs’

Café Mocha, the #1 nationally syndicated radio show for ‘women of color’, kicks off its 2016 Salute Her: Beauty of Diversity Awards presented by McDonald’s in Atlanta on July 6th and 7th. In partnership with the National Council of Negro Women Greater Atlanta Section, the show will host a series of activities to celebrate the launch of its Mocha Cares Foundation to support housing and services to combat homelessness and domestic violence through mentorship programs.

The ladies of Café Mocha will ‘Takeover the ATL” with activities including mentoring at the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, live broadcast of Café Mocha with MAJIC 107.5 during the station’s weekly “Wednesday Wind Down” event at Centennial Olympic Park, and Loni’s Comedy Café Open Mic at the Uptown Comedy Corner. The inaugural open mic comedy show will provide a platform for burgeoning comedians to show off their comedic skills.

This year’s honorees include Kim Fields, Actress/Director/Producer, Deanna Brown Thomas, President of The James Brown Family Children Foundation; Ronnie Tyler, Co-Founder of BlackandMarriedwithKids.com; Shanti Das, Founder/CEO of Press Reset Entertainment; Jasmine Crowe, Chief Change-Maker and Founder of BlackCelebrityGiving.com and more. Café Mocha launched its annual Salute Her Awards series in 2011, with the goal of recognizing dynamic Black and Latino women, who have made contributions within their communities and breaking down barriers with their businesses. Past honorees for Salute Her include talk show host Wendy Williams, activist Sybrina Fulton, R&B star Angie Stone, model/reality TV star Cynthia Bailey, media veteran Jamie Foster Brown, soul superstar Syleena Johnson, cultural arts pioneer Vy Higginsen, actress/humanitarian Sheryl Lee Ralph, civil rights activist Dr. Bernice King, actress/producer Terri J. Vaughn, and CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield, among others. Most recently the Salute Her Awards were featured on a recent episode of the BET reality series, “It’s a Mann’s World” with honoree gospel music megastar Tamela Mann and her husband, comedian David Mann.

“Launching the Mocha Cares Foundation is our expanding commitment to mentor women in transition around the country. With our continued growth and visibly, we want to use our platform to ‘touch’ our audience with our co-hosts’ initiatives; YoYo’s School of Hip Hop , Loni’s Comedy Café Open Mic, giving amateurs an opportunity to showcase their skill,” says Café Mocha creator and executive producer Sheila Eldridge.

Affectionately known as ‘radio from a woman’s perspective” Café Mocha airs weekends Sunday’s 7 – 9pm on WAMJ-107.5.
About MCF: The Mocha Cares Foundation mission is to be a resource to inspire, educate and elevate women and children who are in transition through using our radio platform to raise awareness and create mentorship programs for residents.
