The July 29 cover story of New York magazine is called “Cosby: The Women. An unwelcome sisterhood” and caused the New York Mag website to crash over the weekend. Also this week Spelman College cut all ties with Bill Cosby and returned his endowment. More details on how much money the college returned below.
Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, is now returning what remains of the original $20 million donation. The Cosby family donated the money to the women’s college in 1988 and the endowed professorship was established in the name of Mr Cosby and his wife, Camille.
Recently released court documents from a 2005 civil case show that 78 year old Bill Cosby had admitted obtaining sedatives to give to women before sex. His lawyers argued that Cosby was only one of many people who introduced the sedatives – Quaaludes – into their sex life in the 70s. And they added that at no point had Cosby admitted to having any non-consensual sex or giving any women drugs without their knowledge.
