Almost All Mobile Phones are Vulnerable to New Hacker Attacks

According to a source, all GSM-network (Smart phone)  phones are vulnerable to a new hacking attempt that remotely lets hackers make calls and send text messages from your mobile phone.

The GSM is the normal mobile phone network that majority of people use today (as opposed to CDMA). 80 percent of the global mobile market is covered by GSM network. But the security strength of this network dates back to 1990 as a new threat is discovered and demonstrated by Karsten Nohl, head of Germany’s Security Research Labs.

they saying the new attack lets hackers remotely gain control of hundreds of thousands of GSM mobile phones at once. If a hacker gains control of a mobile phone, he can actually use the victim’s phone to make unlimited calls and send text messages causing the victim to face a devastating amount of damage in bill.

However, the researcher did not lay out the details of how the attack is carried out although he says that within weeks hackers can reproduce the vulnerability.

According to his research labs, GMS is the world’s largest mobile phone network that connects more than four billion people. But its security hasn’t been overhauled since 1990 which is the advantage hackers are taking now.
