Artist Spotlight- DJ Cruze

DJ Cruze has been burning up celebrity sets and airwaves in the New York area for a minute.  You know we love to see an artist on the come up, so we sat down with him to ask a few questions about the game, life as a DJ, his music preferences and so much more.

Why did you decide to become a DJ?
One of the reasons why I became a DJ was passion. I love the feeling when I drop a surprise record and get a reaction. It fulfills me when I can make the audience have a memorable night. I used to produce and record artists. I always talked about music for the club. When I decided to go pro as a DJ, I knew exactly what records would work best.
The club is dead, partygoers aren’t responding; what track is your go-to song to get the party jumping?
That’s a common problem when DJ’s come on the scene. If they dont excute the right songs, they will get thrown out of the booth. I have a nice arsenal of music I go to, but my all time favorite song to remedy this is “Poison” by BBD. Because it is a song that the majority will know, and it hits a wide range of ages; if I ever do walk into a situation where they aren’t feeling me, the party goers will always dance to this every time.

What unlikely hip-hop collaboration would you like to see?
I’ve seen a lot of unlikely collabos, but I really want to see Ja rule and 50 cent.

Top five, dead or alive?
Rick Ross
Jay Z
Dr Dre
50 Cent

The homie DJ Cruze is definitely on our radar as he should be on yours. With aspirations of one day being the next Jam Master Jay, he has some big shoes to fill. Until then, catch him working his magic tricks behind the booth, spinning for celebrities, and turning out the club with classics and club bangers.
