Sources reports that Beyonce was so upset at the jokes said about Lauryn Hill, that she changed her acceptance speech to honor the singer.
All the drama started when Comedian Mike Epps and the group Mindless Behavior who were co-presenting the award for Best R&B Artist when Mike jokingly tried to sing.
One of the members of the group quipped, “You sing BAD … like Lauryn Hill’s tax accountant bad.â€
The diss drew gasps from the crowd … and pissed off Beyonce, who ultimately WON the award that was being presented.
TMZ has learned … Beyonce  was so upset, she scrapped the speech she had prepared and defended Lauryn’s honor instead … saying, “I want to thank all the talented R&B women that came before me like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige.â€
When B walked off stage, there was a woman waiting for her — possibly a BET handler — and B began to vent about the insult, saying the Lauryn Hill diss was “disrespectful†and “not cool.â€
The woman complimented Beyonce for adding Lauryn Hill’s name to her acceptance speech … to which Beyonce replied, “I just felt [the diss] was wrong.â€

Any negative comment, joke, or gesture of any kind concerning Queen Lauren Hill is a definative NO!
However, beyonce getting “angry” about anyone being dissed is an even bigger joke, and if I were Ms. Hill I’d be insulted by her so called defense, and then how it just happen to make it to the headlines in the news. It’s blatant B.S. Please tell me how beyonce who is the queen of “diss” is now trying to call someone out on a so called diss? Smh…..just a smh.
What everyone REALLY needs to understand, including Beyonce who should already know this, is that BET wrote that for Mindless Behavior to say. I work in television and most times, show writers write dialog for the artists to say. The only thing I think was in poor taste is that thi written dialog should have been disapproved before it made it’s way to the teleprompter OR when they most likely did this in dress rehearsal, whether Mindless Behavior was there or had what’s called “stand-ins” to mark their placement for the show, someone then should have said, “Hey, that’s not funny or that’s disrespectful so it should be omitted.” Granted, an artist or artists has the right to decipher what’s appropriate to say or not. that’s why immediately after Samuel L. Jackson made his comment about D’Angelo, he said, “I didn’t write this.” But with Mindless Behavior, these were kids are still new to this game and most likely just did as they were told. They’re so young, I don’t even think they understand who Lauryn Hill truly is and her impact on the music game…this was all BET’s tactless screw up. No, I don’t think what was said was cool at all, but let’s put the true blame where it belongs…not on Mindless Behavior…but the BET Network.
I bet Lauryn Hill avoids these shows these days!
