Beyonce ChicagoBeyonce surprised Chicago on her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour stop last night with the very first performance of her new song “XO” and already going GOLD with her new album.  The pop superstar just shattered an iTunes record with her surprise album, which sold a staggering 828,773 copies in its first three days.

According to a press release from Apple, BEYONCÉ has become the fastest-selling album ever on the iTunes Store worldwide.

The fifth solo project from Beyoncé also broke the U.S. first-week album sales record with 617,213 sold and hit No. 1 in 104 countries. It bests the previous one-week iTunesrecord held by Taylor Swift’s Red, which sold 465,000 copies in October 2012.

If that wasn’t enough, Queen Bey earns the largest sales week of 2013 for a woman.

BEYONCÉ will easily debut at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 when the chart is released on Wednesday. Sales are tracked Monday through Sunday.

The heavily-guarded album launched on iTunes on Friday featuring 14 new songs and 17 videos. Physical copies are in production and will arrive in time for Christmas.
