As we all thought Beyonce killed her Star Spangled Banner performance during yesterday’s Presidential Inauguration, today we find out it was all just a recording?!
Many sources are reporting that indeed Beyonce Knowles did pre-record her singing and lip synced during the Inauguration yesterday. Most couldn’t tell it was being lip synced but many close to the star did. Those in front of the “President’s Own” Marine Corps Band reported they say that it was evident that the band wasn’t actually playing during the song.
A spokesman for the Marine Corps band told the Washingtonian:
“We don’t know why Beyonce decided to use prerecorded music. All music [for inaugural ceremonies] is prerecorded as a matter of course, and that’s something we’ve done for years and years. The Marine Band did perform live throughout the ceremony but we received last-minute word that Beyoncé wanted to use the recording.”
Sources also say it is standard to record a backing track before a live performance and Beyonce chose to use the backing.
