Expect the unexpected” is the motto of this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.  Some of the biggest names in music are gearing up to take the stage at The Forum in Inglewood, California including Beyonce!

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards airs Sunday, August 24th starting at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Check out the details below.

It’s that time of year again; the MTV Music Awards is coming to a small screen near you this Sunday. The most-anticipated performance of the night will be coming from Beyonce, who is being honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year.

Taylor Swift will also take the stage.  The singer just unveiled her brand new single “Shake It Off” earlier this week.

Opening the show is rising diva Ariana Grande, who will be joined by Nicki Minaj and Jessie J for the first-ever performance of their hit “Bang Bang.”

“Artist To Watch” nominee Sam Smith will be making his U.S. award show debut.  Other performers include Australian boy band Five Seconds of Summer, Maroon Five, Iggy Azalea and more.

The Queen Bey is also leading the list of nominations this year, racking up a total of eight.  Her video for “Drunk In Love” with Jay Z is in the running for top prize of Video of the Year, up against Azalea’s “Fancy,” Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” Sia’s “Chandelier” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.”  Miley Cyrus is expected to make an appearance at the show, marking a year since her much-talked-about performance with Robin Thicke.  Lorde, who will present at Sunday’s ceremony, has two nominations for “Royals.”  Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Pitbull, Lana Del Rey and Calvin Harris could all take home Moonmen as well.
