Brandy 33 dish’s more details on the bombshell that her ‘marriage’ to former beau, Robert Smith, was a lie. The singer opens up on her reality one off special MTV Behind The Music, which airs on April 25th.
Brandy, who first admitted to her fib while confiding to talk show host Tyra Banks, said:
“I felt the need to lie about it because at the time I was 23 years old, I had this good girl image, this role model image and I was taught that you should be married before you have a child.â€
“I felt the pressure of what people would think and disappointing little girls.
I felt responsible because young girls looked up to me and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I was afraid.â€
The singer was outed by Smith, who she has a daughter named Sy’rai with, after she claimed she never really loved him. Brandy’s team is looking for fresh new ideas, on how the album should look, what she should wear, her hair style, down to the font itself.

I’m very proud & glad to hear Brandy speak up and out on this! I remember when she talked about getting married like yesterday. Really I remember the Baby Shower like yesterday. everyone was sooo in love with Brandy and so happy for her! I was happy for her too but something was fishy! The “In love” part was definitely OVERKILL. Being able to talk about it now and still feeling pain and remorse for what happened definitely exemplified GROWTH on Brandy’s part!
