Yesterday, R&B crooner Usher, producer Jermaine Dupri, rapper/activist Killer Mike and rapper Big Krit celebrated the first day of Black History Month in a major way.

The four entertainers made their way to Citizens Trust Bank in Atlanta to open up new personal accounts at the small, black owned financial institution. In doing that, they hope to inspire others to start banking small and “banking black.”

Earlier today it was announced that the 9th annual Roots Picnic music festival will feature Future, Usher,and soul singer Leon Bridges.

The yearly picnic marks the start of the summer music festival season in Philly and fans will fill Festival Pier to watch some of music’s top talents perform across three stages.

Ciroc Vodka hosted a few Women Empowerment Brunches to salute several female movers and shakers. The brunches were held in Atlanta and New York to honor 100 women making power moves in their respective industries.

In Atlanta, R&B songstress LeToya Luckett and philanthropist Eudoxie Bridges, wife of Ludacris, were among the women who were saluted during the brunch. Singer-songwriter Keri Hilson was also in the mix to celebrate girl power.

Eudoxie rocked a chic look that she showed off for the ‘gram. We noticed numerous comments under her pic congratulating her on her second pregnancy. Hmm…could it be the flowy top? We’re not sure, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for a baby bump.

The newly engaged R&B singer looked classic in a tailored pair of trousers with a crisp white top and a sparkly jacket resting on her shoulders.

LeToya was overjoyed with the honor expressing herself on Instagram saying, “My heart is still full from today’s brunch! *Nate Parker‘s film “The Birth of A Nation” made a lot of noise at Sundance last week and now the film about Nat Turner’s early 19th century slave revolt has won top honors at the Sundance Film Festival.

“Nation” won both of the festival’s top prizes, the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award.

We are BEAMING with Black Girl Joy after three of our fave actresses brought home awards at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“Orange Is The New Black” breakout star Uzo Aduba returned to this year’s award to add a few more trophies to her collection. Just like last year, Uzo copped the first award of the evening winning the Best Female Actor In a Comedy Series for her role as “Crazy Eyes” on the hit Netflix original series.

Repeating history for a 2nd time, the entire “OITNB” cast, including Laverne Cox, Samira Wiley and Vicky Jeudy, won for Best Ensemble In a Comedy Series. Their cast mate Danielle Brooks likely couldn’t make the awards show due to her Broadway stint on “The Color Purple.”

The cast totally embraces women of all colors, shapes and sizes and we love it! Congrats to them for winning the award for the 2nd year in a row.

Queen Latifah brought home the Best Female Actor In a TV Movie for her role as musical legend Bessie Smith in the HBO biopic. It was well deserved as she nailed Bessie in the film.

This makes Queen’s third SAG Award that will join her collection of trophies.

The fabulousness that is Viola Davis won Best Performance By An Actress In a Drama Series for her role as the tough, no ish taking lawyer Annalise Keaton in the hit ABC series “How To Get Away With Murder.” This win marks the esteemed actress’ 4th SAG Award.

During her acceptance speech, she addressed how people react to her character Annalise Keaton not being likable. She said, “Why do I have to be a hero? Why do I have to be a mentor? My job as an actor is just to create a human being.” Peep her full speech above.

Unlike this year’s #OscarsSoWhite, the 2016 SAG Awards celebrated diversity awarding a plethora of awards to people of color. And Idris Elba nabbed TWO!

The sexy British star won Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for the Netflix film Beasts of No Nation and Best Male Actor in a Television Movie or Mini Series for BBC America’s “Luther.”

Idris made history as the first male to take home two SAG awards in one night. Not only that, he’s the first black person to do so. Nice!

The “Luther” star brought his daughter Isan Elba along as his date who sat next to him in the audience. During one of his acceptance speeches, the doting dad gave a sweet shoutout to both of his children, including his son Winston Elba.

When he walked out on stage to introduce his nominated film Beast Of No Nation with his kiddie co-star Abraham Attah, he said, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to diverse TV,” praising the SAG Awards for recognizing talent no matter the color of an actor’s skin. The crowd burst into laughter and applauded him after his statement. Loves it!

DSC_8658Last night Tamar and Vince invited friends and fans to come out and watch their show Tamar & Vince for a Thursday night takeover at her sister Trina Braxton’s bar Bar Chix.

In addition to the husband and wife duo, in attendance was Nene Leakes and her husband Gregg, Towanda Braxton, Bob Whitfield, entrepreneur Premadonna, and the host and owner of Bar Chix Trina Braxton.
