Maxwell is hitting the road, and he’s taking his entire catalog of music with him. The R&B star will be performing all four of his records during two-night stands in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Newark, New Jersey this summer. Billboard.com says the “Pretty Wings” singer will perform his first two releases during his first night in the city, and his last two records during his second show. The trek gets under way on July 27th and runs through August 4th. Maxwell will also be using his concerts to raise money for President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign. Merchandise supporting Obama will be available at select shows, with all of the proceeds going to the President’s re-election campaign.

Recently, I had the chance to attend recording artist and ABC’s “Lincoln Heights” alum Mishon’s celebrity listening session. He brought out friends Jacob Latimore, Dondria, The Yes Ma’ams and R.L. formally of the R&B group ‘Next’ for the first listen to his new project entitled “Dorm Room Music.” The crew of R&B lovers embraced their fellow peer’s music with body rocks of soulful rhythm and head nods of instant approval. Over 1900 fans  came out in support, some waiting over 14 hours in line just to say hi to Mo. Monica made sure she spoke to every fan taking photos with everyone, and even stayed at the mall 1 hour after the mall closed to make sure every fan left happy.  The latest album from  Monica has its sights set on the top five of this week’s Billboard 200 charts.

The Crowd was all a Buzz last night and ATL really represented during Monica & Brandy’s Soul Session. (Click Here TO See All The Photos)Among the Monica & Brandy fans were Atlanta’s own celebs, T.I. & Tiny, Kandi Burruss, Toya, Jazzy Pha, Anthony Antoine,  Polow da’ Don, all were in the house to support this fascinating Duo.  It’s been 14 years since the two released a single together (“The Boy is Mine”1998) Last night the two performed their first chart topping single together, along with their latest single, “It All Belongs To Me!” This had the crowd standing on their feet!!(Click Here To See All The Photos) This was a show you didn’t want to miss.Hosted by V103’s new Mid-day personality EGYPT, Monica & Brandy performed at a private location for their loyal fans and V103 listeners.   Brandy started off with her signature song, “What About Us” that had the crowd roaring through the isles. (Click Here TO See All The Photos)She followed by a touching tribute to Whitney Houston of “I Will Always Love You” after sharing a Q & A with EGYPT and Fans, who asked about that Mystery Letter Whitney slid to her.

Monica soon followed with a performance of “Anything to Find You” which lead into her chart poppin hit “Angel of Mine”

The two closed with a very touching moment, paying homage to their mentor and sister, Whitney Houston performing “You Give Good Love”; and Monica, killed it at the end. You could definitely see that this was a touching moment for both of them.

In the house was Mayor Kasim Reed, Rev Dr Joseph Lowery and his wife, Ceelo Green (performing 4 songs including 1/2 the x-rated version of $#%-U. Really Ceelo? “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong”, Takeo Spikes (NFL LB for the San Diego Chargers, Ceasar Mitchell, Angie Stone, Jamie Foster Brown,(publisher of Sister to Sister Mag) and a host of other prominent political people and random people who had that mattress money on deck for their President’s fundraiser.

Over the weekend Lisa Raye was honored for her work as an actress with a Diamond Award In Atlanta. The event was hosted by Terri J. Vaughn who I was told did a great JOB for the Not Alone Foundation Second Biennial Diamond Awards, which was held at Morehouse College in the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center .

The Diamond Awards were established to honor individuals in the entertainment and business worlds who, through their perseverance and success, have made a significant impact on their industries.

In the building was Cynthia Bailey, who just taped the reunion show for the house wives. The taping was filled with Drama, fighting,(not real) crying, Dirty Business outed, and a Baby no one new about. I will tell yall about all that later this week…

Jackée Harry was also amongst those honored at the event this weekend. She received an award for excellence in acting. READ MORE

 Last night I got the opportunity to attend General Mills’ Town Hall discussion. General Mills’ Box Tops for Education program is encouraging parents, families and community members nationwide to take a more active role in supporting the future of our nation’s youth by participating in a Town Hall discussion focused on education.

The event was hosted by personality and my mentor in my head Steve Harvey and co-moderated by Essence magazine Susan L. Taylor. The Box Tops for Education Town Hall took place in Atlanta, at Morehouse College, one of the nation’s most distinguished historically black colleges and universities. Its not better than CAU but still a good school… LOL

The Box Tops for Education Town Hall united parents, teachers, and community leaders in an effort to make a real impact on education in our nation’s school systems.

Panelists include: Dr. Jacquelyn Jackson Fleming, president of LifeLearn Associates; Dr. Beverly D. Tatum, Spelman College President;

Tommy Hillman, Box Tops for Education brand manager;

Tisha Campbell-Martin, star from television series Martin and My Wife and Kids and Monica were in the building. Monica and Brandy stopped by Power 105.1fm’s Breakfast Club earlier this week to do some promo for their new single ‘It All Belongs To Me’ and getting ready for a new tour. Mo and Brandy Will be in the ATL for a big concert next week for V-103…

Jay-Z Performance At 2012 South By Southwest

 Jay-Z had Austin, Texas’ South By Southwest music festival rocking on Monday night. The rap superstar took the stage at the Moody Theater for the “Amex Sync Show Presenting Jay-Z.” Jay ran through his incredible collection of hits during his set, including his 2000 single “Big Pimpin’.”

Jay-Z’s set also included performances of the songs “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “I Just Wanna Love You,” “Run This Town,” “H To The Izzo,” “Empire State of Mind,” and “On To The Next One.” Jay also treated fans to his track “Glory,” which is inspired by his new daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
