ATLANTA – Just hours after taking office, Atlanta’s new mayor laid out some of her top priorities for the city. The star-studded inauguration featured guests such as TI, Tyrese, Phadra Parks, and more just to name a few.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms took her oath of office Tuesday afternoon, becoming Atlanta’s 60th mayor and the city’s second woman to hold this prestigious office. Mayor Bottoms also said the city is in great financial shape and she wants to keep the momentum going. Mayor Bottoms took her oath of office in front of a packed house inside the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College.

What a great day for the City of Atlanta and it’s people. Check out the photos below.

One thing  about Keke is she “LOVES” the kids and the kids LOVE Them some “KeKe Palmer.” On Friday December 15th, multifaceted entertainer, Keke Palmer partnered with Radio One, Hot 107.9 in Atlanta this holiday season to support “Saving Our Daughters” 13th Annual Bratz Doll Drive.

The week before Christmas over 70 1st and 2nd grade girls received their favorite Bratz Doll, from Keke and HOT 107.9 Radio Personality, Dominque Danielle at the Barack H. Obama Elementary Magnet School of Technology. The Doll Drive is held every holiday season, the charity event is in memory of “Saving Our Daughters” founders Debbie and Curtis Benjamin’s daughter who passed away from a cancerous brain tumor. Bratz Dolls was her favorite toy and Keke Palmer was her favorite celebrity.

All the girls enjoyed dancing and positive affirmations as well as receiving positive children books before their Christmas Holiday.

The Annual Bratz Doll giveaway was also supported by FOX’s EMPIRE Director and Producer Sanaa Hamri, the cast of FOX’s EMPIRE and longtime board trustee, Roger Bobb of Bobbcat Films.

V103 Atlanta’s Winterfest definitely did not disappoint! What do you think happens when you put Yo Gotti, Chris Brown, Jeezy, Trey Songz on the bill for a concert? You get a sold out Phillips Arena! The night wouldn’t have been complete without special guests K Camp, Bone Crusher, Drolo Polo aka Young Dro, Rich Homie Quan, Dej Loaf, Jacquees, and the Ying Yang Twins.

Jacquees

Bone Crusher set the tone that this was going to be a classic ATL night. Followed up by the Ying Yang Twins. The audience went buck wild! Jacquees brought out Dej Loaf, and K Camp made everyone turn up with “Cut her Off. Yo Gotti all clad in white came with that heat performance and contined the turn up with DM  and break it up .

Trey Songz

Ryan Cameron and Aunt Edith gave away over $10,000 to guests in attendance via the GA Lottery. Trey Songz made a red head young lady from the audience very excited bringing her on the stage for her 23rd birthday! There was just surprise after surprise. Trey Songz literally almost performed all his greatest hits from Bottoms Up, Say Aah, Can’t Help but Wait, Girl Tonite just to name a few.

Jeezy

Jeezy ended the night with his street team parading the arena with signs promoting his new album “Pressure”, snow flakes falling from the sky  and dropping hit after hit after hit after hit for everyone who was born in the ATL and stayed loyal from day oneand then brought up up to date with hits from his new album.`

I had a great time attending the private luncheon event yesterday with Monique Greenwood for the most anticipated docu-series “Checked Inn” at the historical Wimbush House located in the heart of midtown Atlanta hosted by OWN Networks .The quaint ballroom welcomed guest to the aroma of the delectable buffet spread serviced by celebrity Chef Shawn also featured as the lead chef on the upcoming show. While enjoying lunch guests interacted with Checked Inn’s stars Monique Greenwood and Chef Shawn which later led to a brief yet transparent discussion about the show and her journey to success. The audience was captivated by her courage to leave Essence Magazine as Editor -in -Chief to pursue her dream of becoming the owner and chief operator of her own chain of bed and breakfast.

Swain Basketball Academy Accepting Registrations

The Swain Basketball Academy is now accepting registrations to develop your student athletes Individual development and training through group training, team training, basketball camps and shooting gun workouts. They are committed to small one on one development as well. What makes the Swain Basketball Academy stand out as a staple Atlanta training facility? I would have to say it’s the passion and drive of it’s founder Robert Swain.

In case you are not familiar with Robert Swain’s principles. Players are welcome to all different skill levels who have a desire to learn, train, and compete in basketball. Courtcred.com describes Robert Swain by saying the following:

A three-time National AAU champ with the Atlanta Celtics, Swain averaged 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists during his senior year at Tri-Cities High School. Regarded as a Top 50 recruit, Swain committed to UConn and rounded out a recruiting class that included McDonald’s All-Americans Taliek Brown and Scott Hazelton, Caron Butler and Johnnie Selvie. The following year with the additions of Ben Gordon and Emeka Okafor, UConn won the Big East Championship and made it to the Elite Eight. However, minutes were scarce for Swain in Storrs and he transferred to the College of Charleston. He played two season for the Cougars before graduating and then finally playing professionally in Europe.

During his time back home from overseas Swain would hold free training sessions for the kids in the community. These sessions would fill up with about 70 to 80 kids. But it wasn’t until Swain hit rock bottom that he realized his ability to motivate and help others get better as a real gift from above. Swain got himself into some legal issues and had to serve two years in the federal penitentary. Having felt like he lost it all, it was basketball and his relationships developed through the game that kept him sane. His former head coach Jim Calhoun was the recipient of many collect calls and answered them every time. To keep himself occupied, Swain began to train prisoners and came up with the business plan for “Swain Basketball Academy” during a stint in solitary confinement. The company’s current slogan, “Own Your Moment,” came from behind those walls.

Today, The Swain Basketball Academy offers two different locations where your child can be properly developed.
