As Libyans in the United States cheered the death of Moammar Gadhafi, President Barack Obama on Thursday called the fate of the former Libyan leader both the end of a “long and painful chapter for the people of Libya” and the hallmark of a successful U.S. foreign policy. In the first official government remarks on the killing of a longtime foe who was behind terrorist attacks against U.S. citizens, Obama pledged American support as Libya builds a democratic system from the ruins of dictatorship. Yes, the First Lady is just like you and occasionally slips into her local Target for a little shopping. Although she may be incognito, we can see Mrs. Obama enjoys “expecting more, and paying less.†She is seen wearing a hat and sunshades but security made sure to shadow her throughout the store. Mrs. Obama also had her personal assistant accompany her to pick up a few household items. Her communications director Kristina Schake explained, “It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates.†READ MORE
In case you didn’t know, Roseanne Barr, formerly of Roseanne, is running for president! The owner of a macadamia nut farm has joined the Green Tea Party and plans to take the mantle of leadership away from war-mongering men. Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show, Roseanne talked up her platform, which includes legalizing marijuana, ending war and spreading macadamia nut farms to help get rid of global warming. I support Obama all the way, but Roseanne will definitely bring her unique sense of comedy to the campaign.
I’ll be watching and laughing.

President Obama will address the Congress during a joint-session tonight at 7 PM to discuss the countries dire economic state. With elections a little more than a year away, President Barack Obama has come under pressure from both the left and the right to create jobs for the millions of Americans that have been out of work since the start of the “Great Recession.” President Obama is expected to announce a $300 billion plan to get the economy roaring and creating jobs again. This afternoon, President Obama signed into law the debt compromise bill that was passed by bipartisan majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate today. The bill will raise the debt-ceiling until after the next election and will reduce the federal deficit by $2.1 trillion dollars over 10 years. The bill avoids the possibility of the American government defaulting on it’s debt obligations for previously approved legislation and creates a special committee that will recommend deficit reduction in the form of spending cuts and revenue. Both houses will also vote on a balanced budget amendment that needs two-thirds of both houses to pass, plus ratification by three-fourths of the states. READ MORE
