I recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Cocoa “The Truth” Brown about life in Hollywood and her upcoming special for Bounce TV’s “Off The Chain: Cocoa Brown”. Coca Brown is one lady that’s making moves and have a real story to tell.
Check it out below.
Comedian Cocoa Brown has a lot to be excited about these days. Cocoa Brown is known for her straight no chase style of comedy and has picked up the nickname “The Truth”. When asked how did she get the nickname she shared,
I went on stage and spoke my mind. I just started telling my truth; which is the TRUTH!
Cocoa Brown has a unique story; as a former advertising associate for Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus she took her true talents and passion for telling stories and connecting with people to create the life that she wanted.
I had to ask her how does an executive finds herself on stage and she shared that “Your FATE find you!” her chance with fate happened thanks to a friend and a cook out. Cocoa attended a BBQ with a friend hosted by comedian Chris Paul of the Tom Joyner Morning Show along with a friend. During the party Cocoa’s sparkling personaliy caught the attention of Chris Paul; who in turned invited her to rock the stage at his comedy club. Cocoa shares,
I never tried to be funny. I was kind of prissy. I never saw myself as a comedian but all of my friends saw it.
Cocoa Brown took her opportunity on stage and soared. She went on to star in Tyler Perry’s fim “The Single Mother’s Club” and “Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse”. When asked about her experiences with Tyler Perry she shares,
“The Single Mother’s Club ws an amzaing experience. It felt as if art was imitating my life. I was seperated from my husband and living out the life of a single mother during the five months of shooting the film.
Cocoa’s work has led to mindblowing opportunities including working on Ted 2 with Mark Wahlburg. When asked about that experience Cocoa says,
Mark Wahlburg is a comedic genius. To be handpicked by Seth; it was truly an amazing experience. He trusted my comedy.
When asked about Bounce TV’s “Off The Chain: Cocoa Brown”, Cocoa laughed and shared the following,
People are going to be shocked! It’s clean and it’s family appropriate, So many people place comedians in a box; you are either in the gutter or church funny. I am just FUNNY!
Cocoa Brown will be in Atlanta this weekend performing at Uptown Comedy Club. We are going to check her out and we invite you all to tune in to Bounce TV’s “Off The Chain: Cocoa Brown” on Tuesday, March 10 @ 9/8c.
