At around 11:00 AM on Tuesday, a homemade bomb exploded outside of the Colorado Springs, Colorado branch of the NAACP. Two days following the blast, NAACP volunteers have vowed to proceed with their work in the community.

The nation is still reeling following the explosion that occurred outside of the NAACP’s Colorado Springs office on Tuesday morning. The NAACP office and the nearby barbershop have now reopened after the unsettling incident. Volunteers at the NAACP branch say that despite the explosion, they will continue on with their work.
Volunteer Harry Leroy told ABC News “we’re standing vigilant and are trying not to let this disrupt anything.” In addition, the president of the NAACP Colorado Springs chapter, Henry Allen, Jr. posted a summary of the occurrence on the chapter’s Facebook page, emphasizing that they would “move on:”
Currently, the FBI is investigating the explosion and the possibility that the bombing was a direct target of the historic civil rights organization. According to ABC News, a spokeswoman for the FBI office in Denver, Amy Sanders, says that the FBI is “exploring any potential motive, and domestic terrorism is certainly one among many possibilities.” As it stands, the FBI is still looking for a person of interest, who is described as a forty-ish, balding, Caucasian male in a pickup truck.
