Drake, Rihanna Lead Nominees At Tonight’s VMAs

Drake and Rihanna are set to walk into tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards as the leading nominees.

Both stars nabbed five nominations each.

That includes the coveted Video of the Year award for their collaboration on Drake’s song “Take Care.”

Individually, Drake is up for an award in the Male Video category, while Rihanna is in the running for the Choreography honor, to name a few.

Other nominees include Katy Perry, Coldplay, M.I.A., Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne, and newcomer Frank Ocean. Ocean is also slated to take the stage as a performer, as are Alicia Keys, Green Day and One Direction.

The 2012 MTV VMAs is hosted by one of my favorite comedian hosts Kevin Hart and will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and television viewers will get a chance to see all the action an hour earlier than expected.

The starting time was moved to 8:00 p.m. Eastern to make room for President Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.
