We recently had the opportunity to sit down with power couple David and Tamela Mann to discuss their latest venture on the small screne “Mann and Wife” for Bounce TV; a fun situational comedy about blending families, households, and creating quality entertainment that’s not only funny but safe enough for the entire family.

I had the pleasure of sitting down to chat with David and Tamela Mann about their really dope project with Bounce TV. As you know or should know Bounce TV is churning out quality television that’s perfect for the entire family and they have recently added David and Tamela Mann to their arsenal of quality entertainment. “Mann & Wife” is a multi-camera sitcom starring David and Tamela Mann as newlyweds Daniel & Toni Mann. With supporting cast that includes Tony Rock and JoMarie Payton, guest stars include Vivica A. Fox, Kim Coles, Cocoa Brown, Clifton Powell, Elise Neal and Yolanda Wyatt. The series revolves around the newly married couple and their blended family, each with two children from previous marriages. They all move into Daniel’s house in the Atlanta suburbs and have to adjust to life as newlyweds and step-parents. The series creator and director is Roger Bobb (“The Rickey Smiley Show”) who served as Executive Producer for “Meet the Browns” and Supervising Producer for “House of Payne.” “House of Payne” premiered on TBS as the highest-rated first run sitcom in basic cable history.

FreddyO: What do you want people to walk away with after watching “Mann and Wife” tonight?

David Mann: It’s a sitcom where you can see us protray a happy husband and wife. We are newly weds; I am a police officer and Tamela is a school teacher. It’s an opporuntiy to see us in a different light. We have serious moments. I get to showcase my acting chops by protraying different characters. It’s a lot of fun!

Tamela Mann: “Mann and Wife” is almost like our reality. We are a blended family; in the show I have two kids and I relocate to Atalnta to be with my husband. We have quite a few challenges including my live in mother and law. It’s a fun sitcom that shows the complexities of blended families and how with hard work it can work!

FreddyO: Yo, that sounds like a Black Brady Bunch!!!! Are you telling me you guys have created a hip Brady Bunch that I can relate to?

David Mann: Exactly! We are showcasing the realities of blended families. Blended families are a norm in today’s society but nobody every talks about it. We want to bring a voice to today’s family and have a little fun too!

FreddyO: Did you come up with the concept or did someone present the idea to you?

Tamela Mann: We co-created the series with Roger Bobb. It’s truly a blessing to be in a position to create positive television that the whole family can enjoy together. Family is very important!

David Mann: We want to create entertainment that match or brand. We are all about family!

FreddyO: Family is the focal point of your brand. Tell me how do you balance it all?

David Mann: It’s not about balancing; it’s about priorities. Everything doesn’t have the same weight. I make sure my marriage and my family get the most attention. When you focus on what’s important everything else has a way of falling into place.
