Singer Frank Ocean made his network television debut last night, less than week after opening up about his sexual orientation. The singer took the stage on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” with a little help from the NBC show’s house band, the Roots.
Ocean made headlines last week with a revealing post on his Tumblr blog. Since posting the statement last week, Ocean has received support from a range of people, including Def Jam founder Russell Simmons and his Odd Future bandmate, Tyler The Creator.
Sources report Beyonce has joined the growing list of celebs that has support for rapper Frank Ocean, who announced last week that his first love was a man.
Ocean, aÂ writer on Beyâ€™s track â€œI Miss You,â€Â revealed on his Tumblr blog July 3 that he fell in love with a man five years ago.Â â€œ4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together,â€ he wrote.
Bey wrote a short poem to the artist on her blog, praising his decision to come out.
â€œBe fearless / be honest / be generous / be brave / be poetic / be open / be free / be yourself / be in love / be happy / be inspiration,â€ sheÂ wroteÂ atop a photo of Ocean,Â whose new album, â€œChannel Orange,â€ debuted on iTunes last night. The album drops in stores on July 17.
On Monday, Ocean tweeted his gratitude for the mountain of support: â€œTrying to figure out what to say to a million peopleâ€¦sâ€“t, uhh world peace haha.â€
