When I was little fas-a$$ high school chick, my girls and I would hit up Freaknik. My favorite ATL classic ever! I’m REAL grown and things now but I diffinately wont forget those days!

My favorite ATL classic is Club 112 on Cheshire Bridge Rd. This was the “after hours” club when the clubs would shut down and the line would be around the building…..AT 4 AM!!!It’s my favorite becaused it groomed you to be amoung celebrities and non-celebrities and everybody was cool..no star struck groupies…just good fun and food (yes the food was good too) until the sun came up on Sunday.

I grew up in Memphis, TN. In the 90’s with my grandparents. I read Vibe, WordUp and RightOn magazine and would see my favorite celebrities, like TLC, OUTKAST, GOODIE MOBB in the mags and wished I could travel to Atlanta to meet them. I would hear how much fun people had going to FreakNik and envy them wishing I too were going to have fun with black collegemates in ATL. I ended up going to Wisconsin for college and didn’t get to travel to Atlanta for the first time until 2012. By then FreakNik was gone, Club 112 was gone, and celebrities that once filled the streets of ATL were hard to find. Im back in Memphis and want to ytravel again to ATL, listening to Ray Charles, Georgia on my Mind, the whole way!

There’s so many memories to share, but my favorite would have to be Peachtree Street (pre-3am curfew)! I remember stopping by QT to fill up my tank with $10 and driving from the Eastside to Peachtree Street, just to get stuck in traffic. Since I wasn’t old enough to get in any of the clubs (Carnival, Living Room, etc), we turned the radio up on 97.5 and just jammed in the car or parked at the McDonalds with everyone else!

There are so many ATL classic hip-hop songs done by Ludacris, Outkast,Jermaine Dupri, T.I….etc. ATL has just too much talent. I was traveling from MD back in 2005 to start my freshman year at Tuskegee University in Alabama and when my father and I rode through ATL on I-85 south all that was going though my head was Lil Jon’s Snap Ya Fingaz. Of course that was one of the hottest songs out of ATL at the time but the classic song that stands out the most was Gorilla Zoe’s Hood Figga. I would ride from Tuskegee to ATL on the weekends and I remember blasting this and jammin down I-85 to this.
