Jay-Z Supports President’s Support Of Gay Marriage : Headline Labor Day Music Festival In Philly

Jay-Z is co-signing on President Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage. The hip-hop superstar says the President’s public announcement affects more than just the political power plays in Washington.

Jay-Z says the controversy over gay marriage is holding the country back. He says what people do in their own homes is their own business and that no one should face discrimination over who they choose to love. The rapper’s comments comes just as African-American church leaders voice their concerns over the President’s stance on gay marriage.

On Sunday, in Washington, D.C., several pastors took to their pulpits to say they would have preferred that the President stayed out of the controversy. Some even said they would withdraw their support from his re-election efforts because of it.

Jay-Z is showing some love for The City Of Brotherly Love. The New York rap star is headlining a two-day music festival in Philadelphia in September.

Joined by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and representatives from the United Way and Budweiser, Jay-Z announced the “Budweiser Made in America” event at a press conference on Monday.

The event is scheduled to take place at Philadelphia’s Fairmont Park over the Labor Day weekend on September 1st and September 2nd and will feature a diverse roster of artists Budweiser says will embody the theme “Made in America.” The festival will benefit the United Way and several local charities in the area. Tickets go on sale May 23rd.
