Jennifer Holiday returns to DREAMGIRLS as the original “Effe”, at the MUNY in St Louis and brings along a friend. Seems Tyler Perry’s House of Payne Star “Demetria McKinney” to play the role of Deena. Surprised?!!! Well, I’m not. She does put me in the mindset of Beyonce in Dreamgirls, What do you think?
DREAMGIRLS originally opened in 1981 at the Imperial Theatre. It was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, and Best Musical. Ended up winning 6 times. Then it was turned into a motion picture when Beyonce Eddie Murphy and Anika Noni Rose took over from there. It was a long movie but I liked it. I can’t wait to see it and hear “AND I AMMMMM TELLLING YOU!!! Your not going nowhere! You know the rest. Lol!
That’s great, but she needs to tone her voice down a little. The woman is gonna scream her guts out. I couldn’t sit through heraing her scream all during the show. But, good for her.
