Jennifer Hudson’s half-brother is behind bars for allegedly stabbing a man who was in a relationship with his estranged wife.

According to TMZ.com, Steven Simpson has been jailed in Paw Paw, Michigan.  He’s accused of stabbing the victim multiple times in the face. Simpson has a history of domestic violence and was  currently on probation. Along with a string of arrests in the past, Simpson was  most recently jailed for assaulting his wife on Super Bowl Sunday back in  February. He is in custody in Paw Paw, Michigan, and expected to be charged  Wednesday, Aug. 20, with attempted murder and first degree home invasion.

His half-sister Jennifer Hudson, has not released a statement in regards to Simpson’s arrest. She has announced on Monday that she will be performing at the Fashion Rocks, a live music special to air on CBS next month. (The two are related through their dad, Samuel  Simpson.)

In 2012, Jennifer Hudson’s brother-in-law, William Balfour, was sentenced to three life sentences for killing Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew in 2008.
