John Legend Produces “Down Lo” a HBO Drama
Singer-songwriter John Legend and producer-director Tony Krantz are collaborating on a new drama series slated for HBO that is sure to create a buzz amongst television viewers. “Down Lo” will give television viewers an inside look of how the worlds of music, sports and fashion intersect and collide on South Beach.
This new drama series will focus on come-up stories of models and athletes who are seeking to break into the fashion and sports industries. The show will also include stories of fame and secrets, which allegedly will include the story of a gay rapper living a down low lifestyle and his struggle to be accepted by the hip-hop community.
According to Deadline, “Down Lo” is a joint venture of John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company and Tony Krantz’s Flame Ventures. The series will be written by playwright Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, who will also serve as the show’s executive producer, along with Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious, who are affiliated with Get Lifted Film Company. Reece Pearson from Flame Ventures will also serve as co-executive producer.
