Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star, K. Michelle, covers KONTROL Magazine. The VH1 reality diva talks her music and why fans should listen. Check inside for more photos.

K. Michelle, real name, Kimberly Michelle Pate,  grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and started singing and playing the piano at a young age, she tells KONTROL:

“I always used to walk around the house singing when I was a little girl, and they used to tell me to shut up! (laughs).”

“They always knew I was gonna do something with mu­sic,”

“I just decided it was what was what I was supposed to do,” says K. Michelle. “Every time I tried to walk away from it, it didn’t happen.”

K. Michelle signed to Jive Record and was unfortunately was engaged in a domestic violence dispute which resulted in being let go from Jive. K joined the cast of LHHA and was a hit on the first season. She continued working on her music and a new EP will be released soon.

“There’s a lot of things you can overcome and a lot of different things you will go through in the business, but there’s nothing more important than the music.” 

K explains that she is no different as an artists or reality star, “I’m the same way on TV as I am in my music.”
