Kanye West has added another major music festival to his summer schedule. The “Power” rapper will be in New Orleans this July to headline the Essence Music Festival with Mary J. Blige. Other artists slated to perform at this year’s event include Trey Songz, Jill Scott, Boyz II Men, Fantasia, George Clinton, and Charlie Wilson.

Michelle Ebanks, President of Essence Communications Inc., says they’re excited about this year’s lineup. She tells the “Times-Picayune,” quote, “Our mission this year was to celebrate community through the prism of the art form that continues to tell our readers’ stories: R&B.” The 2011 Essence Music Festival will take place at the Louisiana Superdome July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Kanye West will also headline this year’s Coachella Festival with Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, and the Strokes. The event runs April 15th, 16th, and 17th at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
