Knicks star Carmelo Anthony Reportedly Splits From Wife La La

The Knicks forward and his wife of seven years, La La Anthony, are calling it quits, according to reports.

La La, 37, moved out of their home into her own New York apartment and the couple no longer live together, TMZ said.

“They have been fighting for about a year,” a source close to the couple told the Daily News. “The marriage has always been a rocky one, so this is no surprise.”

The split is reportedly an amicable one. Carmelo Anthony, 32, began dating La La in 2004 when she was the down-to-earth host of MTV’s “Total Request Live.” The two Brooklyn-born stars recently put on a united front at a basketball game for their 10-year-old son Kiyan. The TV star, then known as La La Vazquez, and Anthony tied the knot in New York in 2010 — three years after Kiyan’s birth — in a lavish ceremony captured on a VH1 reality show, “La La’s Full Court Wedding.”

The pair parlayed that success into a five-season VH1 series, “La La’s Full Court Life,” which tracked their wedded bliss and their move to the city in 2011, when Anthony was traded from Denver to the Knicks. La La, who went on to star on the TV show “Power” for three seasons, was a courtside staple at Knicks games at Madison Square Garden. The breakup is the latest upheaval in an already tumultuous year for Anthony, the subject of trade rumors for months despite his no-trade clause.

The Knicks opted not to shop the 10-time NBA All-Star this past February, but Knicks President Phil Jackson hinted last week that La La might not be the only one seeking a divorce.

“We’ve not been able to win with (Anthony) on the court,” Jackson said. “I think … he’s a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere where he can win or chase that championship.”

Anthony posted an Instagram photo of Leonardo DiCaprio wearing a bemused expression from “The Great Gatsby” in response and wrote “REALLY,” alongside two laughing emojis. The Knicks had high hopes coming into the season but sputtered to a 31-51 record, and missed the playoffs for a fourth year in a row. The Knicks have not won an NBA championship since 1973. Though Anthony has been absent from his wife’s social media accounts for several weeks, they both posted tributes to their romance on Valentine’s Day.

Depending on how truly amicable the two are, a swift and simple divorce is possible, said high-profile attorney Ira Garr.
