It may not have been his mama this time around, but someone, or something, told LL Cool J to knock out the man who broke into his Los Angeles home early Wednesday morning.
According to the “Los Angeles Times,” police say the rapper and “NCIS: Los Angeles” star left the would-be burglar with a broken nose and jaw.
LL — whose real name is James Todd Smith — reportedly went downstairs around 1:00 a.m. to investigate a noise when the suspect came at him, leading to what sources called a “knock-down, drag-out” fight.
The unidentified suspect — whom police described as a transient — was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a rep for LL says he and his family are safe and “thank everyone for their thoughts and concern.”
When the rap vet isn’t defending his home from intruders, he’s hard at work recording his first album since 2008′s “Exit 13.” He tells MTV News he felt it was time to get back to his roots, adding that he loves music and doesn’t want to forget where he came from. But LL doesn’t want to rush things. He explains that he wants to give the fans who have been patiently waiting for something new a “real album,” rather than a handful of recordings of him “tinkering around.” The untitled set doesn’t have a specific release date, but LL says the first single is “right around the corner.”
