Lupita Nyong’o showcase her black girl swagg with a video showcasing her braiding technique. We know the sisters is all about their hair and braiding, twisting, and primping is a right of passage for all little black girls.
Check out the details below.
Lupita Nyong’o is in the news again; she is showing mainstream America the beauty of braiding. The short documentary braiding style video is produced by Vogue. The lovely ‘Twevle Years a Slave’ star Lupita Nyong’o is shown braiding, parting and styling a friend’s hair. She shares that she learned how to braid from her aunt who is a stylist
This is interesting because we don’t really see very distinct African-American culture displayed in the celebrated magazine. The video has rippled across black social media and blogs alike. We know that black women are serious about their hair but we have never seen VOGUE or any of its comtemporaries take notice of things that are uniquely BLACK.
“Braiding just tells a story…Your hair is your frame if you jack someone’s hair up, the world sees it. For me, braiding hair is an intimate thing. It’s getting up close and personal and I like to do it for people that I know and love and trust.”
Alright girls and (guys who like to wear braids) check out the lovely actress as she shares her braiding techniques with me, you, and WHITE AMERICA too.
