Michael Strahan To Join “Live” with Kelly Ripa

After Kelly Ripa auditioned 59 celebrities to see who would be the best fit as her co-host. Sources say, Michael Strahan proved to be a high-energy host who has solid chemistry with Kelly Ripa. Strahan will be filling the vacancy left when Regis Philbin retired in November of 2011.

Although, ABC won’t officially announce Kelly Ripa’s permanent co-host until September 4th (The second episode of the new season, when Ripa is expected to walk on stage with her new co-host), multiple reports are Michael Strahan as the one who will replace Regis Philbin on ‘Live!’

The former New York Giant, and Fox NFL Sunday broadcaster, Michael Strahan was hand-picked to partner with Kelly Ripa on her morning syndicated show this according to staffers at ABC in New York City. Michael Strahan was named one of the leading candidates for the job alongside ‘SNL’ star Seth Meyers and singer Josh Groban.

Today, Ben Grossman, Editor-in-Chief of Broadcasting & Cable magazine, tweeted “Several sources tell me Michael Strahan will be announced as new co-host of Live, replacing Regis.” Michael Schneider, TV Guide’s LA Bureau Chief, quickly followed up with a tweet saying, “Hearing the same.”
