Four Morehouse College students have been accused of raping two female students from nearby Spelman College in Atlanta.
RAPE and MOREHOUSE COLLEGE is something you never want to hear uttered in the same sentence. Morehouse College has a scandal in its mist as it prepares for President Obama’s scheduled commencement speech. Four young men from Morehouse college have been arrested and charged in connection with two separate sexual assault cases. JESUS BE A FENCE!
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, three student athletes have been charged for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old Spelman College student. Basketball players Chukwudi Ndudikwa and Malcolm Frank currently face rape and aggravated sodomy charges, and Tevin Mgbo is looking at aggravated sodomy, kidnapping and reckless conduct charges.
The alleged assault happened at on-campus party at the Otis Moss Suites Residence Hall on March 8. According to court documents, the victim claimed she was celebrating spring break at a club that led to a campus party. She admitted to underage drinking but said she did not willingly use drugs of any kind that night.
However, the lawyers of the accused men “tell a story of a drug and alcohol-fueled evening in which a young woman had consenting sex.”
A witness told police that she saw the young woman consuming a white powdery drug, possibly the illicit party drug “Molly.”
Several witnesses say the victim did have sex with several men in several rooms, and one witness says the victim used a drug.
One witness also said the victim was drunk, dancing, fell and hit her head.
One of the victim’s friends says he tried to help her but she would not allow it. He told police she kept hitting him and even picked up a knife and tried to stab him saying she knew what she was doing. He says the next morning the victim was unaware of what happened and he took her to the hospital.
Another witness says some of the suspects came and confronted the victim about the rape accusations. That witness said he told them:
“No one forced her to do it but she was not fully aware of where she was or what she was doing.“
Once campus police were told of the incidents, they identified and arrested the men.
As reported from Morehouse College, students who violate the school’s code of conducts and the law will receive disciplinary actions, which could mean dismissal from the college.
In an unrelated incident, Lucien Kidd was arrested and charged with rape in April.
What the campus had to say:
“I guess the school’s trying to keep it on a low key thing; they did a great job of doing it ’cause no one found about it, no one,” said Morehouse student Richard Washington.
“That’s terrible, you know, you send you child to school for education and a safe environment…make connections and friends,” said Morehouse student Jonathan Saxon. “It’s sad that something like that…happened on campus,” he added.
“I feel like we should all be informed about what’s going on in the community, seeing as there’s three colleges here,” said Clark Atlanta student Deshemika Benton.
“The public safety in the area is more reactive than proactive, which leaves us to defend ourselves,” said Clark Atlanta student Marquet Cross.
This is a very sad case. Please keep the young woman in prayer.
