Sources say Ne-Yo might like going to the strip club and making it rain with his baby mama, but he’s doing everything in his power to make sure his daughter doesn’t end up on a pole. Ne-Yo told People mag:

“I’m not going to be that dude that predestines my children’s future. I’m just going to do my best so that my daughter doesn’t end up on a pole and my son doesn’t end up on the corner. And whatever they do outside of that is pretty much their decision.”

The singer is a father to two children with his soon to be wife Monyetta Shaw; Madilyn Grace, 16 months, and Mason, five months. He also told the mag he was very picky when it came to choosing what he would call his kids because he didn’t want to do the typical wacky celebrity baby names thing.

Ne-Yo says juggling his busy schedule with fatherhood isn’t always easy. “Some people say, ‘One day at a time,’” he noted. “I say, ‘One minute at a time.’

Ne-Yo has formed a long-term partnership with Malibu Rum for his own version of the alcoholic beverage, called Malibu Red. The beverage is a mix of rum and tequila.

“A blend of smooth coconut rum and fiery silver tequila, Malibu Red will inspire taste buds worldwide and allow consumers, bartenders and the spirits industry at large to rethink the rum category — and brand partnerships,” a press release read.

BallerStatus reports Ne-Yo has billed Malibu Red as a “party in a bottle,” and says he’s been drinking the mixture long before he linked up with Malibu.

“Me and my team, we been drinking it for a little while,” the singer tells “We took it over to the people [at] Malibu. They allowed me to be chief creative officer of the whole situation.”

Malibu Red is set to drop later this month.

In addition to the Malibu partnership, Ne-Yo will expand his Francis Alargo hat line, which is currently sold at Saks 5th Ave. The line will begin rolling out flat caps, beanies and skullies, following the release of fedoras.
