President Obama has 99 problems but Jay-Z’s trip to Cuba isn’t one of them. Offering what may be the final word on the White House’s non-involvement in the rapper’s controversial visit to the communist island, the President told NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday that his staff is a little busy with more pressing matters.
Jay-Z started controversy when he rapped about his and wife Beyoncé’s recent trip to Cuba on their fifth anniversary. The rapper name-checked the President in the song “Open Letter,” prompting speculation that he may have pulled some strings to get his presidential pal to okay the visit.
President Obama’s dismissal of the notion follows similar declarations from his press secretary Jay Carney and the Treasury Department, which said Jay-Z and Beyonce got permission to go to Cuba under the department’s educational exchange program.
Jay-Z may have a buyer for his stake in the NBA team the Brooklyn Nets. The rapper has been looking to unload the small portion of the team that he owns after launching his own sports management company — Roc Nation Sports. Since the news went public, Reddit.com founder Alexis Ohanian has expressed interest in various Tweets. Now the entrepreneur tells “Bloomberg News” that he’s “absolutely” interested in buying Jay-Z’s shares. Apparently, Ohanian is a big Nets fans and his tweets have been a part of a larger plan to get Jay’s attention. He adds that he would be “honored” to take the shares off Jay-Z’s hands.
Jay-Z owns less than one-percent of the Nets, but NBA rules stipulate that no one affiliated with a company that represents players can own stakes in an NBA team.
I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading very slow
for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end?
I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
