“Pepa” Says Nicki Minaj Needs To Tone Down Her Act?

Nicki-Minaj-papa
If I was Nicki Minaj, I really don’t know how I would feel  about a statement that “Pepa” of Salt-N-Pepa said, – – although she likes Nicki Minaj, she said that  she should consider toning down her act(what act is that — is she talking about her attitude hummm?). Pepa tells Vibe.com, here part of the interview:

“Not everyone’s role model material, but we do have a sense of responsibility because kids listen more to us than they would their parents. But [Nicki’s] young, so how’s she gonna enlighten?’ She’s new, she’s excited and…that’s what happens when you have a male camp dictating how you should be.”

Yall know Nicki Minaj is going to make a statement, but what? I think that it is more to this story.

p.s be careful what u commend!

  2. TAMMI says:

Who cares what Pepa thinks with her ghetto ass! Do your thing Nicki Minaj! Controversy Makes Money! Am I sensing some jealousy Pep???

  3. kiarra says:

i cant agree with tammi becasue controversy is the main reason we have so many issues with violence in hip hop so tammi shut the fuck up and i completely agree with what pep was saying because all nicki does is talk about her pussy and things and messing around with girls. you always hear that sex sells but come on pepple the idea of women using sex to get ahead is somehting thats already been done. superhead buffie and trina so i just say we use our mind insted of ass.
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. ITS ME says:

only immature minds would say that pep is hating. I totally agree with pep. Im 22 and don’t listen to half this shit thats on the radio nowafdays. Its very degrading.

  5. CASHVILLE STAND UP says:

NICKI SHOULD LISTEN TO PEP SHE HAS BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. PEP IS RIGHT….SHE IS VERY OVER THE TOP AND OVERRATED!

  6. lea says:

if anyone is overrated it’s pepa her ass can not rap. plus her wig is a damn mess..

  7. admin says:

Leaveit2diva, I commend you for making your own decisions. We can’t let money be the motivational piece in our lives. What legacy will we leave? Courtney L.

  8. KEDA says:

I agree with pepa in sum ways becus nicki is givin grls around dat it is ok to do all that stuff that she says in her song. But nicki is not the only one that dose that. Even Pepa sung songs that had unpositive words and actions in them. Nicki needs to come down though real talk. Im 19 and my little cousin is only 11 years old and she sings along to nicki songs. She even came to me one day and told me that she wanted to be bisexual because she wanted to be just like Nicki Minaj.

  9. TAMMI says:

Please Kiarra do me a favor and KISS MY MOTHER FUCKIN’ ASS!

Now let me say this…Rearing starts at home. We need to put the blame back on the parents and their lack of parenting. Nikki Minaj or any of the other hip hop artists out there should not be held responsible for what a parent don’t teach at home. Do you hear white parents saying the same thing about Heavy Metal Groups and their children? There was crime before hip hop and there will be crime long after hip hop ceases to exist (and I’m not even a fan of hip hop). Point blank raise your own children! A lot of this is the result of young mothers and fathers who didn’t teach there children anything because they were to young and dumb and didn’t know anything themselves!

For the record Kiarra…I was 31 years old before I had a child…

  10. POOH87 says:

First off I LOV3 Nicki Minaj music, thats my OPINION!! Why do artists have to be role models all the damn time? If anything, you parents should be your childs role model not people in the industry. IF THATS THE CASE HOW ABOUT EVERYBODY SIT UR CHILD(REN) N FRONT OF THE T.V. AND LET THE T.V. RAISE THEM. Pep cant say shyt about nicki minaj because til this day, pep protray herself as a hoe. All she think about is men, men, men!! When her and her group came out, they talked about the same shyt nicki talks about……..SEx this, sex that. Okay pep, you teaching kids how to be a hoe, howits okay to get plastic surgery, how to only think about party!! COME ON PEP, U CANT GIVE SOMEBODY ADVICE WHEN U DO THE SAME THING, UR NO DIFFERENT THAN NICKI MINAJ!!! SHE HAS HER OWN STYLE, EITHER U LIKE OR U DONT BUT BEST BELIEVE SHE STILL GONNA SEE HER CHECK REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYBODY TODAY!!

    @ Tammi
I don’t care if you had your first kid at 41you still have some growing up to do young lady

  12. Vivi says:

Ok..Pepa has been in the rap game for over 20 years. She is a female rap icon; without her, rappers like Trina and Nicki Minaj would not even be here. So why would she be jealous of Nicki, who hasn’t even dropped one album? The rap music of today is pure garbage. Back in the 80s and 90s, female rappers had to be ultra tight in order to be successful (i.e Mc Lyte, Salt and Pepa). Nowadays, you just need a nice body and a NASTY mouth. So sad how low rap has fallen these days. Also, Tammi, if you’re over 31, I’m shocked. Most 31 year old women I know don’t speak or listen to Nicki Minaj. But then again..guess that’s my circle

  13. TAMMI says:

If you took the time to actually read my post you will notice I said that I don’t like hip hop…but I don’t knock the hip hop artists out there…music is a form of expression and that all…it’s not meant to groom your children…The hip hop artist are no different from any of the heavy metal and controversial white artists. The fact is WE (black people) need to stop pointing the blame for our short comings on everyone else! As the consumer you are given the option not to buy the product! Please don’t tell me if given the opportunity to make the type of money these artists are making you wouldn’t jump on the opportunity!

ShoeJeanie and Vivi…I really don’t care what you think of me…I have a right to my opinion just like you do. You two are probably the same ones at the club bobbing your heads to every vulgar song the DJ plays but then you get on here and try to act as if you’re appalled by my comments…Please! give me a break!

  14. jasmine says:

uh no body’s trying to be like nicki minaj! at all. lol nobody does what these “entertainers” do. no one ever did what “pepa” or whatever tha heck her name is did anyway. old as she is no one cares what she has to say. furthermore if parents whooped their kids and actually do what they should then their kids would not be pregnant, and other things of that nature. ‘nough said!

  15. TAMMI says:

I agree with Jasmine as she so eloquently stated…lol!

  16. Nesia says:

I AGREE 100% with Pepa….Nicki has a negative effect on these impressionable teenagers.

  17. Nesia says:

How old are you Jasmine?!?!? Wowwww…why so much anger sweetie?

  18. lizz101 says:

omg ppl are goin ape sh*t over other ppls opinions and are just proving others right… why are females gettin gso offended when it has nothing to personally do with you. Nicki Minaj is an entertainer, jus like Sandra d. (pepa) used to be. have you seen her shows and how she protrys herself and she has a problem with Nicki who has some similarities to her and is better than she is. I love Salt n Pepa back in the day and some hits i still do but what she rapped about isnot to far what Female Rap MCs are doin now. Whatta Man, wanting to know how does it hang is politically correct but NIcki Minaj song Dang-a-Lang is out of this world. WOW!!! i think people should look at the person career and then see if they can really put down another person for doing almost the same and even being more ARTISTIC.

and Lil Wayne said it best…im not saying ‘TAMMI, RHONDA, LIIZ’ is a hoe/bitch/trick im just saying those phrases..their are hoes/bitches/tricks in the world….(paraphrased of course)

My thought is that everyone has there own Opinion and no one should judge the other person please give respect to one another when you are blogging about issues and that is first because everyone are adults here and the name calling, disrepect is not needed so act with class and some since of dignity. First of all Pep is in no postion to judge anyone when she just did a reality show and she was in the hot tub filling the NFL players croutch so that is being so double standard u think ummm!. Now as for Nikki Minaj she is being her real self having fun, making money, selling music and doing her thing!. We as society should never look to celebrity’s to be our role models because people do fail but God never fails. So just work on bettering yourself and being a postive humanbeing inside and out! because real beauty comes from within and remember that God keeps score on all our lives. ( peace and happiness)!.

Well, to those people who advocate beating kids….new studies indicate that whipping children actually teaches them violence and causes them to become violent adults..but anywho…yes, parents are responsible for raising their kids. However, kids are influenced by more than their homelife. Kids are influenced by their environment as well, which includes school, music, tv, and everything else outside of the home. Think about it. How many of you were raised to do one thing but chose to dress, curse, or do something your parents may have disapproved of because it was in style? I mean, my parents were horrified when I wanted acid washed jeans, but hey, it was the style and I bought some. How many boys who couldn’t play basketball stuck their tongue out like MJ? With that being said, some of these artists need to think about what they release. I remember 50 cent saying he doesn’t allow his child to listen to rap music. But he records music to lead someone else’s child to a life of crime? Come on now if it is good for everyone else’s kid it should be good for yours

  22. TONYA says:

WELL I I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HER AND HER STYLE OF RAP I THINKS SHES COOL SHE CAN SING AND RAP AND SHE HAS A LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE THAT LIKE HER MUSI. TS CATCHEY BUT WHAT I DONT LIKE IS TO HEAR THE YOUNG KIDS SAYING SOME OF THE STUFF SHE SAY I FIND MY SELF IN MY CAR SINGING SOME OF HER SONG BUT WHEN I REALIZE WHAT SHE SAYING I HAVE TO CHANGE THE STATION BECAUSE ITS OUT THERE. I FEEL PEOPLE GONNA SAY WHAT EVER TO MAKE MONEY BUT JUST BE TRUE TO YOUR SELF AND I THINK THIS IS ALL AN ACT AND PEP STILL DONT HAVE HER STUFF TOGETHER I WATCH BOTH OF HER VH1 SHOWS BUT I FEEL SHE JUST TRYING TO HELP HER NOT BELITTLE HER AND SOMETIME IT COME OFF AS THAT I BET MY MOM USE T SAY THE SAME THINGS ABOUT ME SINGING LITTLE KIM SONGS COMEING UP

  23. Tamara Banks says:

I dont think our opinions matter one way or the other. After reading that this woman has lost a kid and her father killed her mother in a fire.. yet she still had the motivation and drive to go to college and get a degree… i applaud her. she is in character. and if most of these parents would stop letting the television raise their children, most of them would know its all an act. You let your kids watch movies that are just as fake as the music but yet there are no complaints about that. Do something with your children and teach tem right from wrong. Trust that you raise them right and leave it alone. The sad part is that people actually think that rappers and entertainers should be roll models. SMH. Grow up. Pep has walked around looking crazy and acting crazy on muliple occasions… Nicki seems to be following in Pep’s previous footsteps. Just because she has toned it down now does not mean nothing.Nicki is doing exactly what she is under contract to do. That is her job!!! Thats it, nothing more and nothing less. Its sickening how people use everyone else as the reason for being morons and making mistakes. Blame your own ass for your wrong doings…

How old is Tammi, good lord this chick is CHILDISH smh

  25. TAMMI says:

Eating Beluga caviar w/Rihanna don’t worry about my age…you should be worried about your delusions of grandeur and seek counseling…surely you wish you were eating caviar with Rihanna but the fact is you’re sitting home ALONE living vicariously through the eyes of others!

  26. kimarea says:

WHAT THE HELL….THAT DONT MAKE NO SENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIFE IS CRAZY …LMCAO

  27. Paul says:

Music has always played a big role with young people. Life is hard enough without filling their heads with all the nasty, negative stuff. Nikki can be cut some slack because she is new to the big scene and Im sure it was overwhelming to finally have a means to blow off the steam that built up all her life.
But now that she’s got it all out, the truth is, being such a huge celebrity DOES come with a sense of responsibility to bear in mind your audience, meaning the group of people you impact the most. For her, that is young teens…
Best way to make it even bigger and stay on top for a long time to come, is to push out positive messeges, be encouraging, KEEP IT CLEAN! Appeal to young peoples dreams, help them to know that there is a better world for them in the future and aspire them to do great and good / positive things.
I hope she does clean it up because she can make a world of difference to an entire generation either way, I hope she chooses to make a positive impact.

  28. Paul says:

one more thought. IF all parents did actually keep to their responsibilities and not allow their children to listen to or watch stuff they should not be… then nikki’s career would be over very quickly. Think on that a moment.
    “Who” is her biggest audience?
But those who said it above me are absolutely right. Too many parents today are too busy with their own lives and drama, that they can’t be bothered with being “parents”, and this is why most of the rap/hip-hop world is thriving. So when you say being role models is not up to a celebrity, it’s up to the parents… just remember where most of this part of the entertainment industry would be if every parent finally realized the truth and made all the proper adjustments… There would be an awful lotta rap/hip-hop artists standing in the unemployment lines
