I had the opportunity to spend my afternoon basking in the presence of Frank Ski Kids Foundation Local Legends and their scholarship recipients. Frank Ski Kids Foundation under the wonderful leadership of president Tanya Ski and the new director Elisha Silvera created an afternoon of mentorship, scholarship, and grand dining.
The eight young ladies nominated for the Local Legend Scholarships are the first class of students to be selected from the online application process.
Frank Ski Kids Foundation Local Legend Luncheon is the brain child of Tanya Ski who wanted to create an event celebrating academic excellence in young women. Taking her cue from THE OPRAH WINFREY she created a celebratory event celebrating high achievement in minority girls living in Metro Atlanta. In addition to celebrating academic excellence in young women Tanya wanted to honor women doing extraordinary things in the community.
This year Frank Ski Kids Foundation celebrates two dynamic women in media Rashan Ali and Brenda Woods.
The Frank Ski Kids Foundation is in the forefront as it relates to community service and philanthropy. The afternoon was inspirational and all of the attendees felt overjoyed as they shared life experiences, academic goals, and life lessons with one another.
Rashan Ali motivated the young women to embrace new beginnings now. She urged them to make their dash counts. She told them that their goals should be to give back and motivate their peers to do better.
Brenda Woods gave the young women a ten point manifesto that included life tips that people at any age can use to win. These tips included:
1. Don’t Burn Bridges. 2. Don’t Gossip. 3. Keep Positive People in Your Circle. 4. Stay Focused. 5. Work Hard. 6. Take Advantages of Opportunities. 7. Dream Big. 8. Embrace the Beauty Within. 9. Feed Your Spiritual Life. 10. Don’t Wait Start TODAY!
The afternoon was awesome and everybody left feeling good and inspired. In addition to recieving schloarship monies and trophies for the legends our friends over at Hairfinity donated a gift bag of hair vitamins to everybody. In Oprah Winfrey style everybody walked away a winner!
Kudos to the Frank Ski Kids Foundation for making a difference in the community.
