I had the opportunity to get photos of Raven Simone, Kandi Burruss, and Felicia “Snoop from the Wire” Pearson at the Atlanta screening of a dope documentary by the name of ‘The Same Difference’ by Nneka Onuorah.
The screening was sold out to a packed audience of movie viewers excited about the highly acclaimed film and a chance to see some celebs and chat with the Nneka Onuorah, Felicia Pearson, and other members of the cast about the challenges that lesbians face in a world that is geared to celebrate heterosexual, traditional, very WASP norms.
Check out the details below.
Nneka Onourah is a prolific figure in the entertainment industry; the former producer for Viacom has evolved into a dynamic producer who is sharing untold stories with the world. I had the chance to catch up with the super producer at the Atlanta Screening of ‘The Same Difference‘ a documentary that discusses the discrimination that lesbians feel in the lesbian community. This is a conversation that’s not really heard in mainstream American pop culture. Nneka Onourah is giving voice to women and men who feel like they don’t have a voice and are forced to conform to rigid stereotypes.
This documentary has gotten a lot of buzz drawing out some dynamic celebrities of the day including ABC’s The View Raven Simone, RHOA Kandi Burruss, and The Wire’s Felicia Pearson who’s also a star in the film. ‘The Same Difference’ had two sold out theaters during the very heart of Atlanta’s 2015 Pride Weekend.
Millions of women and men are in Atlanta celebrating the Labor Day weekend that involves tons of big parties, shopping, and dope experiences like ‘The Same Documentary’. When asked about what people should take away from watching the film Nneka Onuorah shares,
I have seen a lot of discrimination in the lesbian community. People are so pressed to be something that conforms to the world’s standard of what a woman or man should be. I created this film over two years to give a voice to the voiceless. I used my own money to tell this story and I sure hope people are inspired to embrace themselves and be open to not conforming to rigid societal expectations of what a man or woman should be.
