Pitbull is citing the right to free speech in his defense against Lindsay Lohan’s lawsuit. “The Hollywood Reporter” says the rap star filed a response last week claiming that the lyrics he used for his hit single “Give Me Everything” are protected by the First Amendment. Pitbull’s court documents warn that putting publicity rights above the right to free speech will ultimately prevent an artist from “expressing his or her thoughts in songs.” The emcee notes that he also mentions Ryan Seacrest in “Give Me Everything,” but rather than file a lawsuit, the “American Idol” host invited Pitbull to “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” to perform the track. Pitbull is seeking to have a federal judge in New York dismiss Lindsay’s suit.
We told yall a few weeks ago that Lohan originally sued Pitbull for referencing her legal troubles in “Give Me Everything.” The actress claimed that she suffered “tremendous emotional distress” from the line “I got it locked up, like Lindsay Lohan.” Lindsay has also alleged that the song was “destined to do irreparable harm” to her career.
I could see if she HAD a career still.
