President Obama Featured In United Colors of Benetton’s New UNHATE Campaign

President Obama is featured in the United Colors of Benetton’s newest campaign titled UNHATE. I’d say their marketing techniques are pretty catchy too! In their ads they feature political figures from all around the world kissing each other. As we all know, a kiss is the universal symbol for love so that was there purpose…to demonstrate love rather than hate. Check inside for more pictures of other world leaders kissing for world peace.

The United Colors of Benetton’s are making a call for world peace but with most of the world leaders being men homosexuality is sure to come up. While homosexuality may appear as a touchy subject it’s perfect for this campaign. There should not be any hate towards anyone’s sexual orientation, religion, color, gender, etc.

The organization explains their efforts stating,

” The UNHATE communication project includes a series of coordinated initiatives  and events, starting on November 16th in the main newspapers, periodicals and  websites around the world. The central theme is the kiss, the most universal  symbol of love, between world political and religious leaders, such as: Barack Obama and Chinese leader Hu Jintao; Pope Benedict XVI and Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb, Imam of the Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo (the most important and  moderate center for Sunni Islamic studies in the world); the Palestinian  president Mahmoud Abbas and the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. These are symbolic images of reconciliation – with a touch of ironic hope and constructive provocation – to stimulate  reflection on how politics, faith and ideas, even when they are divergent and  mutually opposed, must still lead to dialogue and mediation.”

Note: dialogue and mediation people! All of the pictures are photoshopped but they do serve quite a purpose.

What are your thoughts on the new campaign?

I don’t like the marketing for this campaign . It has a homosexual look to it and I don’t think its fair and appropriate to those who are not gay… especially our president. The last thing we need is for our president to be portrayed as a gay black man, if he is not. I understand the concept of the campaign but the marketing is extremely disrespectful. Not only to our president but it has most of the men in power that job rely on the respect of the people they are leading. Don’t get me wrong if this was their lifestyle and we already accepted it than if wouldn’t be a problem because I live with an open mind, your life is your life, respect everyone’s decision to love AND kiss who they want but when if they are not gay this becomes a problem. At first glance I didn’t think UNHATE I thought it might have been another party making jabs at the president. Even after reading the article I still don’t see what the true intention is.

BUT WHY THO. THIS IS SO DISRESPECTFUL TO THE PRESIDENT. THIS AD CAMPAIGN NEEDS TO BE PULLED

  7. WILLIAM says:

it’s “BS” and the creator should have his face slapped clean off of his head. Why do these companies want to portray black men as homosexuals? I’m lost for words and tired of all this Gay ish. To place this add using President Barack Obama’s image in this filth is irresponsible and they should BOYCOTTED…yes…..IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND AGREE WITH ME DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM BENETTON OR ANY COMPANY ASSOCIATED WITH BENETTON!”

  8. WILLIAM says:

BOYCOTT BENETTON AND ANY COMAPANY ASSOCIATED WITH THEM EVEN IF THEY PULL THE CAMPAIGN THEY ALREADY MADE THE POINT, THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER RELEASED THE PICS…THE IDEA SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHOT DOWN AT THE MARKETING MEETING……..SAY NO TO BENETTON AND ALL COMPANIES ASSOCIATED WITH THEM…PASS THE WORD ON TO EVERYONE THAT YOU KNOW…….if we stop spending money with these companies then we stop making them rich and hopefully we can bankrupt them………SAY NO TO BENETTON

All I want to know is, how can I Photoshop one with President Obama and ME? I’ll unhate him all day.

Thought this was fantastic. It was refreshing to see something for once that wasn’t seeking compassion and empathy through pictures of conflict and the results of warring nations/leaders (not that I have a problem with those campaigns), but into going straight to the source and how if only we showed a bit of love toward one another.

And often it’s something controversial such as this that really grabs people’s attention. Yes, some of you are (for whatever reasons I can’t fathom) offended by this, but you felt the need to say something, you’ll remember it, won’t you?

And wow, sounds like a lot of anti-homosexuality vibes floating around here, that’s not in the spirit of ‘Unhate’. In many nations and cultures, it’s normal to exchange a kiss as a welcoming greeting, or affection. It doesn’t mean an invite to the bedroom.
