Ridiculously Spoiled CELEBRITY KIDS…

Spoiled

Celebrities have been known to spoil their kids to no end! But as they grow up, do you know what kinda impact this can have? WARNING…from a psycho-social perspective it may not be wise! There are two things a child needs to have besides love…positive self-esteem and a healthy sense of self-worth. Developing these traits should be a primary focus and celebrity parents’ gotta work extra hard at doing this!

Don’t want your kids to ever want for nothing, this may not be a good attitude to have. Wanting for something and being confident enough to get it, can actually help build a child’s self-esteem and self worth. Just cause parents make enough money for their kids to never have to work, doesn’t mean they won’t want to or need to for their own emotional health and well-being. Sometimes, celebrity kids can have a hard time rising from the shadows of their celebrity parent as they grow up to pursue their own interests. And this can affect them psychologically. As a celebrity parent you need to realize this.

Generally speaking, here are two things that can result from ridiculously spoiling your child:

  • First, your child may have a hard time getting their own in this world and may struggle with “feelings of belonging” which can impact their ability to find their own way and see their own value to society. They may desperately seek to fit-in without being constantly compared to their famous parent.
  • Second, your child may not develop an appropriate “fight-mode” for daily living and instead operate their lives in “flight-mode”… sinking rather than swimming. They may decide not to even try to measure up, assuming that they can’t. Some may struggle as they grow up, possibly with drug and alcohol issues, depression, abusive relationships, being unstable, being easily taken advantage of, etc.

Making sure as a celebrity parent not to give to your children out of guilt is important! It’s tempting to do this especially when you’re not spending the kinda time you wanna spend with them. Often celebrities have to sacrifice time with their families. But, replacing time with objects can work against you as they get older. At the end of the day, kids need your TIME.

Raising kids to become self-reliant, stable, secure, strong and successful adults requires balancing your life in such a way that YOU can instill the value system and moral compass needed to create a solid foundation. No parent wants their child to grow up and fall short of their full potential! Moving forward, you may need to rethink ridiculously spoiling your kids. Be sure they have a greater understanding and appreciation for the material things they are given. It benefits all people to feel like they’ve earned something and not just been given something in life.  When it comes to kids, just because you can afford it, doesn’t mean you should get it! ~Doc Mel
