Ruben Studdard is once again having tax troubles. Legal documents filed in Alabama show that the former “American Idol” winner and his estranged wife owe just over 180-thousand dollars in federal taxes from 2009.

According to TMZ.com, Studdard previously had a property lien filed against him in 2008 for nearly 200-thousand dollars.

The R&B star was in the news last November when he filed for divorce from his wife, Surata Zuri McCants, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple tied the knot in 2008.

Ruben Studdard is currently preparing to release his fifth studio album, “Letters from Birmingham.”

The record will hit stores on March 13th.
