Record executive “Sha Money XL” is making a big career change. Sha — who helped boost 50 Cent’s career — is leaving his position as vice president of A&R at Island Def Jam to serve as the executive vice president of urban A&R at Epic Records.
Sha tells XXLmag.com that he made the move to “help grow and build” himself as well as to “provide more opportunities for others.” Record executive L.A. Reid — who currently serves as the chairman and CEO of Epic — was highly influential in getting Sha to sign on the with the label. Apparently, when Reid was heading Island Def Jam, he recruited Sha. Sha explains that L.A. Reid really believes in his talents and understands who he is.
