Most single Black women feel like they don’t want to settle for less. Their standards are too high right now. They have to understand that successful Black men are kind of extinct. We’re important. i agree with slim on a number of statements- not the entirety -but a number of them..i find myself also wondering about the state of black people, women in particular. for i am a black male who desires to date black woman but find that a vast number of them are delusional in what they desire in a black male .. i feel that as a race male, and female we are all susceptible to the European illusion and as a result we are all CRAZY to some degree ..
I’m a white guy and my girlfriend who is black just left me (for the 6th time). I work and support myself completely, own a house and car and have many expenses. She lives at home and works full time. I had to drive her and pick her up everywhere, and rarely would she pay for anything, let alone even offer. She felt that “the man” should be doing most of everything and taking responsibility, moving the relationship forward. She would eventually get pissed enough that she would drop the relationship and I would have to defend myself and get her to come back, but it would just happen again. I’m a very generous guy and she was constantly on my mind and I would look out for her, but I made it clear I wouldnt be doing EVERYTHING for her…thats just not realistic, or fair. So…the breaking point was when I had to go out of town for the couple days and was busy during the week. We got together after a week without seeing each other and she acted all detached from me. When I questioned her, she told me “I’m not that important to her” and “shes over the relationship”…this was only 1 week after telling me I Was the one for her and she wanted to marry me. So at this point, its becoming clear that although not a race issue, I do believe its a cultural one where men are seen as essentially commodities that are virtually bound to servitude in relationships. I’m by no means a believer in “modern” relationships – I believe a man and a women fit different traditional roles. But come on! Things have evolved since the 1940’s, and its no longer realistic to assume the man should be taking action of everything while the women just sits in the passenger seat. That is not rewarding or inspiring for any man in the long run. And that kind of attitude certainly will not lead to a ring on your finger, unless of course the guy you are with doesnt mind having a wife who acts like his daughter.
