Spike Lee Says Donald Trump Is a ‘Man of Hate’ and ‘Violence’

Director Spike Lee went after President Donald Trump this week during the premiere of his latest film, “Black KkKlansman.” Lee said Trump is a “man of hate, violence and can’t be trusted to make moral decisions” — all before debuting his new movie at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Harvey Theater in New York City.

“We can’t be silent anymore. He’s on the wrong side of history, and we are on the right side of history with this film,” the director declared, just in case people didn’t understand his earlier message.

Lee’s latest work follows the true story of a black Colorado police officer who infiltrated the KKK in the 1970s. It debuts in theaters August 10.

The film’s cast has also expressed anti-Trump sentiments when talking to the press.

“He uses the terms ‘America first’ and ‘Make America Great Again’ more than once,” Topher Grace, who plays David Duke in the film, said, according to Vanity Fair.

“Watching and hearing Trump say those exact words in 2017, the similarities were pretty eye-opening, which is really scary. I think the bold message of the film is, if you don’t look at your history, you might be condemned to repeat it — and we might be repeating a bit now.”

“This is not a Dave Chappelle skit,” said John David Washington, son of actor Denzel Washington. “It’s an incredible true story that is a period piece but has a contemporary rhythm and feel to it that addresses race and bigotry. It’s a story that continues to resonate today … My hope is that people will watch the movie and be aware of what’s going on today. There’s this language of hate used among people today, and it seems to be the same as it was in the ’70s.”

Here’s what’s so confusing about what these artists are doing: They’re promoting their work — a film they want to speak to larger cultural issues right now — yet by insulting both the president of the United States so directly as well as his supporters, they’re seriously limiting the reach of their movie.

Promoting a film in such a way only guarantees the work will merely preach to the choir, which is all leftists seem interested in doing these days.

Forget real discussions; they just want to pat each other on the backs.
