Jay-Z is powering up his high wattage portfolio with a new business venture.
The rapper is teaming up with battery maker Duracell and Powermat to launch what they’re calling a Wireless Power Nation.
It’s essentially a wireless charging system that allows users to power up their phones, or other wireless devices, simply by placing them on Powermat-equipped charging stations.
Plans call for these charging stations to be installed on tables and bars in coffee shops, restaurants, clubs, gyms and other public venues.
There will even be a Google app that will share locations of nearby Powermat hot spots. Read More »
Jay-Z’s newly remodeled 40/40 Club is failing to meet the standards of New York’s Health Department. The “New York Post” says the rap mogul’s club was shut down just one day after its star-studded relaunch last week.
Sources with the Health Department tell the “Post” several violations were noted inside the club, including the refrigerator’s 60 degree temperature and an employee who mixed salsa with their bare hands. All told, the 40/40 Club received 69 violation points, which is far more than than it needed to earn the Health Department’s lowest possible grade. The 40/40 Club has since corrected the problems, and was cleared to continue business over the weekend. The club will be adjudicated at a hearing next month.
This isn’t the first time Jay’s 40/40 Club has had issues with the Health Department. During their last inspection, which took place last March, the venue was cited for improperly handling food and unsanitary conditions.
Jay-Z may be on vacay right now with his pregnant wife Beyonce over in Venice, Italy but there is all types of hell being raised here in the U.S. while he’s gone. As of now Jay-Z’s 40/40 club is being remodeled and a local union is pissed because Jigga is using non-union workers to do the remodeling. Jay-Z is building a new restaurant home-away-from-home in London. The New York rapper has announced plans to expand his 40/40 restaurant and bar franchise across the pond next year.
He’s teaming up with British soccer star Ashley Cole to launch the venture. The multi-million-dollar enterprise is expected to be the first of several project partnerships for Jay-Z and Cole. Jay-Z opened his first 40/40 Club in New York City in 2003. Read More »
