New Video: Sevyn Streeter Pays Tribute to Aaliyah
During a recent promo tour, Atlantic/CBE recording artist Sevyn Streeter paid a visit to the Detroit high school that was attended by the late singer Aaliyah. After the visit to the school, Streeter was inspired to pen an open letter to Aaliyah which she posted on her blog:
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to say THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU because you taught me it’s sexy to be cool and it’s cool to just be you!”
Streeter also paid tribute to her music idol by performing her own stirring rendition of Aaliyah’s 2003 hit “Come Over”.
You can check out Streeter’s acoustic performance of “Come Over“ below:
Kudos to Sevyn Streeter for paying homage to Aaliyah through the beautifully written open letter and her performance of Aaliyah’s “Come Over”. Aaliyah has always been one of my favorite artists and does not always get the props and respect that she deserves. Streeter’s tribute to Aaliyah was well done and very befitting.
What do you think of Sevyn Streeter’s version of “Come Over”?

Missy And Timbaland Address Drake Producing New Aaliyah Album
This morning, musical moguls, Missy Elliot and Timbaland stopped by Power 105′s The Breakfast Club to clear up some rumors  and tell you what they think about the new Aaliyah album being produced by Drake…..
Missy Elliott, Timbaland Not Participating In Aaliyah Album
New information regarding Aaliyah’s upcoming posthumous album continues to surface this week. Update: Timbaland Reportedly Working on Posthumous Album W/ Drake
I know that people have been having mixed feelings about Drake taking on an Aaliyah album but now BET is reporting that Timbaland will reportedly be involved in the upcoming “Posthumous” Aaliyah album. I don’t know how the entire project will go but it seems only right that you involve Timbaland and/or Missy working on this album. This is news that should provide some solace to fans who were upset by the new Aaliyah song released late Sunday by Drake and his producer Noah “40″ Shebib.
Drake is working with Aaliyah’s record label Blackground Records as executive producer of the new album, news that crystallized for the public soon after Sunday’s release of “Enough Said,” on which he is featured with the late Chanteuse.
Family & Fans React To New Song From Aaliyah And Drake : Family Not Supporting Album
Drake’s involvement in Aaliyah’s new posthumous single “Enough Said” is getting mixed reviews from fans online. MTV News reports the pro-Drizzy crowd took to Twitter after the song was posted online this weekend, thanking the Toronto rapper for continuing the late R&B singer’s legacy. But not everyone is on board. Twitter-user @tiphonic said “Drake’s obsession” with Aaliyah — he sports two tattoos honoring the singer — is a little scary. Others also said frequent Aaliyah collaborators Timbaland and Missy Elliott should be involved in any new music from the singer, a point Timbaland agrees with. The producer said in an April radio interview that “it would not be right” for Drake to go forward with a new Aaliyah project without himself and Elliott.

“Enough Said” is rumored to be the first single from an entire posthumous album from Aaliyah, which Drake may be executive producing. However, the record and its possible production team have yet to be confirmed.
NecoleBitchie reports over the past few weeks there has been talks of an Aaliyah posthumous album (executive produced by Drake and his producing partner Noah ’40′ Shebib) as well as talks of a biopic which has been going on for years. Read More »
